what presents does Santa bring to your children?

Options
Just wondering.....

My son has written his list. I have bought everything he asked for but I am wondering if you guys say its all off santa or off you as parents?

Its just I have worked hard for the money for presents & Im getting a bit fed up of Santa getting all the bloody praise!!!!

My friend just gives her children a few games & a tangerine off Santa & she gives them the rest.

Unsure!!!

What do you guys do?

That's odd as I was talking about a friend today and in her house, 1 present is from Santa and the rest are from her.

In my house they are all from Santa although I remember my daughter asking me, quite indignantly, when she was about 5 why I never got her a present..!!!

She's now 9 and we're at that in-betweeny stage....she may or may not believe in him but I'm not going to confirm it either way;)

I give all the presents and santa does just the santa sacks at the end of their beds but mine are now 13 and 14 so know the truth anyway
  • none! my child knows there will be gifts but also knows mum worked hard to buy them, no thanks is given to santa, though we dont do christmas like mst people do, I tend to treat my family throughout the year, not just on one specific day. my daughter still gets excited at the hype of christmas and gifts, but in our house father christmas is just a fantastic fairy tale. presents ar still ripped into sant or no santa hth x

We have never done presents from Father Christmas, they have always been from the person who sent them.

Father Christmas only delivered them on the order from us if they had been good boys...not that the boys believe in Father Christmas now.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

  • Santa brings a stocking and one main present (ie something off the list)

We then buy them three gifts (to represent frankincense, gold & myrrh.)

I agree it would be very odd if a parent bought for everyone else but not their own child/ren. I think it's important that Santa doesn't bring everything.
  • My two believe in santa still and understand if they've been good they get a pressie from him and of course their stocking. Everything else is from us and family, saying that, when they were little they believed santa brought the lot (they're 7 & 8 now)

  • In our house we tell the kids that mummy and daddy have to send pennies to santa for their toys so they may not get everything on their list. Santa then delivers them.

I always said We/family ordered and paid for them but FC delivers them. My sister told hers that she buys everything and then sends it on for him to deliver back. I could never use that as my eldest would have definately have asked 'why, what's the point and couldn't I just cut out the middle man and let him have stuff early?'!! This meant my mum has grandkids of around the same age told 2 different versions! Not a problem on my hubby's side as his neice is a lot older.

My 7yo DD who I am 99% sure is 'humouring me' announced yesterday that 'santa never gets her anything cos all the tags say from Mum & Dad/Nan/Aunt etc. At that point I said he gets you the items in your stockings as these aren't wrapped so no tags. I never had stockings as a kid, 'stocking filler' presents were wrapped and under the tree. When I asked mum last year about it, she says there wasn't the ready made stockings to buy when we were kids, she and my nan had used the stockings they worse, but we wore socks. When my DS was 2 or 3 he saw stockings being hung out and filled on a xmas film and wanted same. As I've had no 'tradition' to fall back on, I've had to make it up as I've gone along, hence the overlooking of what Santa actually gives.

There was nothing 'odd' about it. I genuinely didn't think it would cross her mind as she gets a huge pile of presents at Christmas. Since that one though, I always keep a small token gift back - CD or similar - and give her it seperate and she knows it my gift to her.

There is time enough when kids are older to realise that Mum bought all the gifts and give their appreciation then...let them enjoy the magic and mystique of Christmas and Santa for as long as poss. I love to think of all the children on Christmas Eve in bed straining to hear the sleigh or the bells on the reindeers :)
