I have learnt that if I follow the good advice on this thread and have my store cupboard ready I do not panic like a mad woman.0

ps/Hopefully it has taught my OH to keep his mobile phone charged at all times...it took him over 11.hours to drive home(normally takes 35mins!!),and his phone battery ran out about 5hours before he made it.loss of contact at a time like this just adds to the worry.
I have an in-car charger that works off the cigarette lighter. Maybe your OH can get one that fits his make of phone? BTW Kittie posted a list of what to have in the car for cold weather emergencies. I think it was on the Preparing For Winter thread but I can't find it using the forum search facility0 -
I had one of those Mrs S (except he couldn't sing). He died last year on board his ship off the coast of the Falklands. I miss him so much, but you're right, someone like that makes a perfect husband.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

I have learned that I am well fed up living alone as well. I only want someone who can chop wood, rustle up a nice spag bol, sing like Pavarotti, knock up the odd shelf or two, look nice in Naval uniform, has a great sense of humour and puts my bins out in an impending blizzard without asking. Oh, change a tyre, take me out for a nice meal and then home, likes gin and tonic/wine, likes my friends, loves my dog and smiles through adversity. Not much to ask is it!!! And clears the path of snow so I dont slip and break my neck getting in from work..Oh and laughs at my jokes....ha ha...LOLOLOLOL

He'd actually have 40 fits about what I've done to the kitchen and the fact that I disposed of the huge but unneccesary range sized cooker that he bought. He'd have 40 more about the cats that we now have (child loves cats, husband loved dogs), but as he didn't stick around for his share of the babysitting etc, well tough, lol. Yes I do miss him, but you have to make the most of what you have I reckon. I've promised that our son will have the best, happiest childhood I can give him. These forums are invaluable for helping me cope. No matter what the situation...dodgy weather, child not sleeping, cat misbehaving...there is always someone around to help.
I think another thing the bad weather taught me is that I value my cyber friends a lot.0 -

And as for your cats - I can't count the chuckles and smiles their antics have given me ... just hope they do the same for you and your DS.:)Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

I agree with NB Cranky..............your son is a lucky lad having such a great mum. Makes me think of something I was told:
'There are some situations in life we have absolutely no control over.............what we can take utter and total control over however, is our reaction to them.'
This forum has been such a big help to me, particularly in the last 6 months. It's literally been a lifesaver for me after ill health and a break up.
This weather has once again brought out the old community spirit and that's always great! Oh and I've also learnt just how wonderful fleece things are...........jim-jams............2 for £3 @ @sda blankets as curtain liners.........or folded in 1/2 and used in bed to lay on and cover up with.............as a sofa blanket.........etcNicotine Free since 01.08.2010 :j:j:j

I like that quote DundeeDoll, so true. So sorry to hear what you've been through - I can identify with that. Big hugs to you. x
And agree 100% about the fleeces. One thing I've learned is that even on the coldest nights I can be warm and snuggly in bed by having a fleece rug between me and the duvet. Also have a collection of them on the couch for burrowing under on cold evenings! I also have fleece PJs and tops.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

So we have all the above in common :rotfl:
My bed is cosy anyway, as I have a memory foam mattress and also Egyptian Cotton or flannel sheets/quilt cover..........BUT putting that fleece blanket in has made an enormous difference.........never wear PJs or anything in bed.
Thanks for the hugs............it's what I really really miss being on my own
Right, off to wrap myself in that fleecy blanket now............:D
