oh and next year, I'm putting the horse on full livery and going on holiday somewhere warm

    (joking.... I think)

Funnily enough we've just decided to take seasonal full liveries....after all, I'm out there doing mine and telling the paying guests' owners not to drive and I'll do it rather than them kill themselves I might as well take paying guests that actually pay me to do it! TBH though I wouldn't let my owners' risk their lives to get here when I'm here anyway. Similarly, if I'm going to get animal/horse food in the LR I get everyone's. My owners think its fab:) but I know if something happened to me they would help me with mine too, and I trust them: which is PRICELESS. It would cost me more in man hours to charge 50p for putting extra buckets out/hanging nets etc so I'd rather get on and do it and know all the horses are well cared for and happy. it would not give me pleasure or do me any good at all to know that one owner couldn't get here safely and for want of paying 50p leave a horse unfed etc. Likewise, I'm doing Christmas week for nowt, because I'm here and its easier to juggle cooking/baking and yard when its here that driving in bad weather, managing children/visiting relatives etc. Time they can get away they can just enjoy being here.:)

. The other thing that I longed for was a nice chilled glass of wine. I could picture all those bottles stuffed in the snow to keep them chilled in the garden - a bit like a mirage really.

Oooh! what a lovely vision! It might even be worth opening the door to go out to get on (or three)

It has taught me to invest in a decent pair of wellies and to carry a spade in the boot...if not to dig the car out of snow but to bury the @rsehole of an ex. :)
  • That wearing uber long vests that stay tucked in - even with low-rise jeans - is the best way to keep my back warm! :)
  • To allow more time for journeys (by bus, car or otherwise.)

I can't get on with those low rise things, I feel like they're falling down.
  • There's more snow on the way and I've learned to make sure I have enough milk and eggs, as the milkman failed to deliver to us one day during the last bout of snow and DH managed to get the second to last 2 pt bottle of milk from the corner shop, before stocks ran out.

    Eggs were running low too.

Getting a delivery from the butcher two days before Christmas, but if snowed in, have some duck breasts and legs and a sneaky stuffed turkey breast in the freezer. And frozen winter veg. And Christmas pud and custard.

;) Felines are my favourite ;)
