Candidates - Things To Be Aware Of When Using A Recruitment Agency

Except SK is not advertising vacancies in her window, she is inviting people to register for future positions. She is advertising the agency's service, not a vacancy.
I'm suprised at anyone on this site who doesn't 'read the small print', then claims they have been misled. You (generally) are all happy to look for loopholes in everything else.
If you find a vacancy in the jobcentre and its through a agency It doesn't stipulate that you are applying for a possible future job, So maybe they need to add this on the details when they advertise them don't you think ?0 -
Such a big hoo ha out of nothing *shock* I seriously worry for those of you who are SO caught up over this. Just get over it, really. Some agencies/ agents are not what you thought they were. it happens, just move on and use another agent/ agency/ no agency. You are clearly not interested in listening to (or researching it seems) how RC's work, or why. And even when and if you DO figure that out, it's not going to change your opinion one way or another. So why expend so much energy on it? Go watch a film or have a glass of wine/ beer.. relax... it ain't the end of the world
Sigh.
The only thing we know for sure, is that we know nothing0 -

The Job Centre are happy for agencies to advertise positions that come up regularly for their large contracts.
They actually understand the nature of bookings, particularly with Industrial work.
If you called the JC as an agency and said "My client has pre-warned me that they will be increasing numbers over Christmas, but I haven't got a firm start date yet or exact figures. Probably last week of November and up to an extra 15 Labourers" Do you really think they would tell you not to advertise yet? No, they will ask if you would like an interview room on site... because they understand that we don't live in a perfect world, and actually it's not the agencies fault at all."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." When it affects someone's ability to earn a living it is a very big deal indeed.
Are you still not getting that the impact of RCs can be life changing? When an RC's actions are unfairly detrimental to someone do you really think your attitude is appropriate? My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

Well I agree its not entirely the agencies fault, Maybe the jobcentre should clamp down and tell them to advertise actual vacancies and not possible ones.0 -

She answered the question. The signs make it evident that they are "always interested to hear from" as opposed to X required - £25k.
Can you really not see the difference? One is an invite to register, and one is a direct advert."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -
And its great that you have advised people who wasnt aware but there are insults and comments on both sides when there needn't be. Some of your posts, not just yours i might add, have come across in a different manner you may of meant them - as have others
Theres a "ask a debt collector" section on the dFW board - i think we should get a "ask a recruitment consultant" thread on here and turn this experience into something that can help others avoid a situation like yours lily
Do you want any sugar or milk with that coffee? x
Best post yet on this thread. Fantastic idea and merits further consideration given the length of this thread.
Worth a PM to one of the board mods?0 -

I agree: we wouldn't want to widen a Job Seekers chances of actually getting a job now would we :rotfl:
How do you suggest sourcing 15 labourers for tommorrow (for example) without advertising in the JC, or inviting people to register, just out of interest?"On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." just out of interest, What about if the client then calls the agency to say they don't need the workers now ?0
