    In regards to everyone arguing.. Just ignore the OP. The majority of the problems seem to have stemmed from there. If you put them on ignore their posts disappear and the thread posts then appear relatively on topic :)

    jobs are more Nottingham way - which from what i understand its a no-no for agency's and recruitment right now

    I don't work for a high st agency so can't help you as an RC unless he's a nurse/ medical professional. I have plenty of sales contacts looking for recruits in west and east mids though, so contact me via pm if you want details :D

    I certainly cannot agree with you on that one!

    The OP is not the source of the problems on this thread. One poster is streets ahead of anyone else in posting nasty, vindictive comments and seems determined to stop civilised debate.

    That person appears to have the support of and is thanked by other RCs on this thread, whereas the most offensive post by a non RC was ignored by everyone, maybe even repoted to abuse by some.

    One question. What skills/qualifications do you need to edit CVs for an agency?
    My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

    Did you notice i ignored that comment from Sammyantha - I've chosen to ignore a few - on BOTH sides.

    And as for your bottom question - I was hired as an admin, I worked up to trainee recruitment consultant and then became a full consultant - this was a driving agency. The CV bit was something I did when I was the admin. (I hope your question was not asked with a hint of sarcasm - if so then Shame on you)

    I can only post from what I personally do, NOT all recruitment consultants/agencies.

    My window currenly has about 8 adverts in it. None are live right now as none of those clients are likely to want anyone this side of Christmas. They are for clients we have dealt with for a long time and who regularly have requirements. My adverts do not state 'currently available' my adverts state 'we are always happy to hear from *insert job title here* with the following skills for this type of company.'

    Most people do not read this clearly. That is not my fault. The advert absolutely DOES NOT state that it is a live job right now.

    I cannot have an empty window and I cannot ever turn round to a client and say "sorry, I don't have anyone matching those skills available right now"

    Sometimes I have had live jobs advertised, a CV has come in, looked great for the role but on registering, that person was definately not what my client were looking for. That doesn't mean it was a fake advert. It means you are not suitable. I am honest with my candidates and will usually tell them why I am not considering them. If it's a personality trait tho, sometimes it's just easier all round to say sorry, that position has gone.

  • Some people seem to think that this thread is the first ever complaint/negativity/disdain towards recruitment agencies. However, if you Google 'I hate recruitment agencies' there are a significant number of links dedicated to this subject.

    As it has become clear on this thread, it seems my negative experience is just one of many.

    PS well done mommyme on gliding over certain comments. Unfortunately, I have had to respond to some of them due to them being personal, unprovoked attacks. :cool:

    With all due respect, I hardly think you can protest with "its not my fault if they do not read it clearly"!! That does seem very misleading. It's like seeing a nice coat in the window of Topshop, then walking in and being told "oh that's not for sale now, we just MIGHT sell something like that POSSIBLY in the future!

    How long is it before you actually tell a candidate the vacancy is not an actual vacancy but merely a projection of what you may have in the future?
