With all due respect, I hardly think you can protest with "its not my fault if they do not read it clearly"!! That does seem very misleading. It's like seeing a nice coat in the window of Topshop, then walking in and being told "oh that's not for sale now, we just MIGHT sell something like that POSSIBLY in the future!

How long is it before you actually tell a candidate the vacancy is not an actual vacancy but merely a projection of what you may have in the future?

It's not misleading at all. It is what it is. I can protest that it's not my failt if it's not read properly, purely because that is not my fault. It does not state that I have a vacancy available. It says I am always happy to hear from someone with those skills for clients that we deal with on a regular basis.

Candidates can assume way too much about many things. That is not my fault. I'm not trying to mislead anyone. If I am looking for someone for a particular vacancy, it will say so. If a candidate chooses to read what they want to instead of what is actually written, I will not be held responsible for that.

As for your comparison - no one would expect that of a shop. Now you're just being silly.

Well, thank you for admitting that you quite freely advertise non-existent roles.

By the way, how long until you tell the candidate that the role is not "active"? I think you missed this question.

As for my comparison, you are right that no one would expect that of a shop. Until your admission here, I would have not expected it from a recruitment agency.

I have admitted no such thing. They are existant, just not at that given point in time. When I put them in the window, it's because my client have said they will need more people for the same/similar roles. You're doing a very good job of twisting words to make your nit picking seem credible (which incidentally, is not working).

I didn't miss your question at all, I don't have to justify myself to you or anyone else. I KNOW i'm a damn good consultant as my clients and my candidates will testify to. If I wasn't, I wouldn't have been in the same agency for 5 years. Bad consultants are moved on rather quickly.

But there's absolutely no way at the time of your client 100% guaranteeing that these jobs will materialise - In other words it's a Fake/Phantom Job Vacancy.

Employment marketing communications must relate to genuine vacancies and potential employees must not be asked to pay for information.

You may not want to have an empty window, but if you do not have any current vacancies then you have nothing to advertise.
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

Except SK is not advertising vacancies in her window, she is inviting people to register for future positions. She is advertising the agency's service, not a vacancy.

I'm suprised at anyone on this site who doesn't 'read the small print', then claims they have been misled. You (generally) are all happy to look for loopholes in everything else.
