lol I think you all just like arguing for the sake of arguing

It is not my fault if the OP wants to argue about stuff she hasn't got a clue about.

  • more to see if its worth him looking for a new job at current times. his jobs unsecure, sales, stupid targets, they've just extended his trial period and they've brought in a lot of new recruits this morning. Friends in old recruitment has said theres absolutley nothing out there just yet, and they have said they wont expect business to pick up until mid January / early feb

He's going to sort his CV out (to be fair its not that bad - even if i do say so myself) because i did it lol That was one of my jobs when i worked in the agency, to edit the CV's!

There is a bit missing about what he does & what he has done?

In a normal year things pick up end of feb early march.

January is traditionally dead. However I have known a couple of busy Jans.

However, 2011 is going to be slow if we want to generalise across the board but it really will be industry dependent.

Its a bit difficult to give advice not knowing what he does but Central/West Midlands is going to take a hammering. Unemployment will increase therefore competition will be tougher.

Saying all this its always good to get your CV about if you are unhappy but any time from the week before Xmas & the first week in January most CVs end up staying on the email or desk unread & get a quick glance before being deleted or filed later on because the client/employer wants to clear their desks.

Most people cant be bothered in that 3 week period.

Probably apply for as much as possible that is live now but send speculative CVs out & contact agencies from week 2 in January & hit it hard from the end of Feb.

But I have a feeling it is going to be a very tough, quite year in all.

  • he used to work in a pub/night club. Now works in a cold call centre who are adament people ARE buying credit referencing (well actually, they arent!) and no one in the office is hitting the targets, its more of a "jump ship before pushed" kind of thing.

Downside is he cant drive so is limited :(

He has his theory test on sat so fingers crossed he'll pass that. Will get him to send his CV out in Jan

    Thanks x

Companies will buy credit referencing facilities more today but they would of done their deals in 2007/2008.
It would all be in place by now.

Thats the problem with not driving. Rural communities suffer with it big style.

There are some companies that employ people to work from home doing sales & customer service etc.

That might be something to look at. Obviously avoid any company that wants money up front.

He's expected to do 3/4 sales a week earning at least £1k each in revenue. Doesnt happen a week before xmas lol there's no give on it either. If you dont hit your sales one week, they roll onto the following week and so on.

I've highlighted a key word in your post Lily. SOME RC's - not all, but SOME.

the reason the RC's are getting upset is because many posts on here are direct at ALL RC's and not the minority that give it a bad name.

Would you like a chocolate biscuit?

It is the same on any thread. You will always get a minority who are narrow-minded and tar everyone with the same brush. However, none of MY posts have said that I was ever talking about ALL RCs. In fact, I even said that agencies can be useful.

I was merely advising candidates to be careful about the info they give to agencies about their other job applications. I continue to stand by this view.

Unfortunately, some people seem to thrive on provocation and seem unable to project their views in an adult manner.

    Yes please :coffee:

(PS. anyone who thinks I am talking about them when I mention trolls is probably correct)

And its great that you have advised people who wasnt aware but there are insults and comments on both sides when there needn't be. Some of your posts, not just yours i might add, have come across in a different manner you may of meant them - as have others

Theres a "ask a debt collector" section on the dFW board - i think we should get a "ask a recruitment consultant" thread on here and turn this experience into something that can help others avoid a situation like yours lily

Do you want any sugar or milk with that coffee? x
