The OP has made her daughter's feeling clear on either subject and I think it's fair to say that everyone has views on these emotive subjects. For some it's clearly an option to be considered and for others not.
I'm not falling out at all just a healthy debate, it just gets me when on sites like this people ask a valid question on whatever subject and you then get people giving a reply that has nothing to do with the original query and also (not saying in this case) get ever so righteous.
We all have our opinions on this and any other subject but they are OUR opinions and that's not always helpful or nice for that matter.0 -

But it's a public forum and people will post what they see fit. If you choose to air your dirty laundry on a forum which people don't even have to register to read, then I am afraid you have to take the answers that come. It's actually not a healthy debate to be honest as you are ramming your 'pro life' thoughts down everyone elses throats and god forbid anyone that doesn't agree with them.
You've been on the site for a month. It's not mandatory and to be honest if it stresses you out that much - why bother? Life is too short I would have imagined to get angry at poeple you don't even know.0 -
I have thanked numerous posts on here today, due to the fact that the individuals who wrote them are trying to help in their own way, not because I would encourage fraud, I just appreciate people trying to help out and offer advice, if you go through my list of thank yous I am sure this will become apparent.
So you think tameside's suggestion of making a fraudulent claim is worthy of thanks?Yes, I suppose I am advocating Benefit Fraud.
Bit of a !!!!!! aren't IGone ... or have I?0 -
I have read this thread in its entiriety (spelling?) and have been dismayed by what I have read.
The irony is that I am disappointed by my own opinion on this !
I think that it is outrageous that people can recommend benefit fraud. I also think that it is outrageous that in this civilised society we are looking to deny an eighteen year old pregnant vulnerable girl our help. How would you feel if this was your daughter ?
Equally, I also find it outrageous that someone can get themselves into this position. Pregnant at eighteen, no partner, no job or money and yet the country has to pay for it all from the housing costs to weekly cash payouts when this could have been avoided. I feel as though we are all being mugged.
I am ashamed that I think the latter but am being honest as I can truly see both sides of the argument.
In due consideration I would rather she was helped than left to struggle but there surely has to be a better way. Perhaps us British need to educate our young with the principles of starting families (accidental or otherwise) when we can afford to pay the bills and/or that they will be brought up in a stable household both financially and emotionally.
Am I the only one who can see both sides of the story and has sympathy with this vulnerable girl but angry and used at the same time that the tax payer has to pick up the bill yet again ?Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -

She didn't exactly "air her dirty laundry" she gave a bit of background in order for a question to be answered, and trust me i'm far from stressed, i'm happily sitting watching tv with my glass of wine.
I'm a very happy bunny.0 -

As I said, I have thanked alot of people who have tried to offer help, whether I agree with their methods or not, at least they took the time to post what they thought was a solution. And for the record, no I don't advocate benefit fraud, nor would I suggest it.0
