I think I'm in love with DMG24 but as she thinks I'm a cad and a bounder I think I must look elsewhere.0

I have a further suggestion for the OP, contact your MP, he may be able to help. My MP has been very helpful to both myself and my son in dealings with the DWP.
You can but try Googling his webpage, it will probably give a contact email address for him.
Cheers, HG0 -
I have read this thread in its entiriety (spelling?) and have been dismayed by what I have read.
The irony is that I am disappointed by my own opinion on this !
I think that it is outrageous that people can recommend benefit fraud. I also think that it is outrageous that in this civilised society we are looking to deny an eighteen year old pregnant vulnerable girl our help. How would you feel if this was your daughter ?
Equally, I also find it outrageous that someone can get themselves into this position. Pregnant at eighteen, no partner, no job or money and yet the country has to pay for it all from the housing costs to weekly cash payouts when this could have been avoided. I feel as though we are all being mugged.
I am ashamed that I think the latter but am being honest as I can truly see both sides of the argument.
In due consideration I would rather she was helped than left to struggle but there surely has to be a better way. Perhaps us British need to educate our young with the principles of starting families (accidental or otherwise) when we can afford to pay the bills and/or that they will be brought up in a stable household both financially and emotionally.
Am I the only one who can see both sides of the story and has sympathy with this vulnerable girl but angry and used at the same time that the tax payer has to pick up the bill yet again ?
I agree with what you say, it really annoys me that young girls can get themselves pregnant, and immediately start thinking, "WELL WHAT AM I ENTITLED TOO" it would be different if this girl had actually paid tax and insurance, and had some sort of job before getting herself pregnant, but she obviously hasn't, as she is trying to claim JSA. I know the OP will come on here now stating that she herself has paid Tax and National Insurance, so what is wrong with her daughter claiming. The fact is, that too many people feel this way, that it is all right for a young girl to get herself pregnant then claim money for housing, and money to bring the child up. As though it is there right, that the world and the tax payers in this country owe them a living. In most cases a living until the child is 16. although that varies, but I know many girls that started off with just the one child, then 10 years down the line they are on child number 5 or 6. All paid for by benefits. And not a father of any of the Kids in sight.
Contraceptives are available in most pub toilets and chemists, and if you cant afford them they are given out free in the family planning clinics, or the Doctors surgery.
There is no reason these days to be in this situation,0 -
None of this would of happened if she had applied on-line as specified. She would have satisfied the JSA conditions.
Boots would have decided whether to interview her or not and offered her the job or not.
Is the pregnancy being used as an excuse not to apply for Christmas jobs?
I think at eighteen and pregnant, choosing to live independently when you don't have an income is completely foolish. We can't have it all at eighteen. We have to work and save for a good few years to earn our independence.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it!Following requests to start things steadier for new members who did not realise the tasks list wasn't a must do, just an encouragement. There will now be level 1, 2 and 3. Level 1 being very basic it has been requested that this is just vital tasks for basic cleanliness, level 2 usually has some decluttering and clearing, up to 3 which is more advanced and time consuming. If you want to do level 2 you add the tasks on level 1 with the level 2 tasks, if you want to do level 3 you add the tasks on, easy peasy. Choose a level to aim for but be realistic, if you've got a busy day on or are just starting etc aim for level one, if you get higher then great, if not then not to worry its only suggestions. Every room comes back around next week. Trust me some days I'll only be doing level one myself.0

If you choose to air your dirty laundry on a forum which people don't even have to register to read, then I am afraid you have to take the answers that come. It's actually not a healthy debate to be honest as you are ramming your 'pro life' thoughts down everyone elses throats and god forbid anyone that doesn't agree with them.
You've been on the site for a month. It's not mandatory and to be honest if it stresses you out that much - why bother? Life is too short I would have imagined to get angry at poeple you don't even know.
So someone comes on here saying they need help because they are pregnant and have been sanctioned with regards to jsa. Someone then turns round and says Oh i know why don't you get an abortion..? !!!!!!....
I agree with the person who said to get a sick note from the doctor and claim esa. If it gets her out of a spot then do it is my advice.0 -
Is the pregnancy being used as an excuse not to apply for Christmas jobs?
Well the Mother certaintly didn't think that Boots would take her on so if that is her attitude then what is the attitude of the OP daughter?
I don't think she wants a job either to be brutally honest and I think she has been going through the motions, thinking she will get away with it and biding her time till she can claim IS.
Unfortunately she made a rookie mistake and is now up to her eyes in it.0 -
Loopy_Girl wrote: »As had already been pointed out, Boots have staff that are pregnant so I am sure they have procedures in place. I fail to see why being pregnant would preclude her from stacking shelves either to be honest but if Boots decided that their pregnant staff are not to do it, then I'm sure they would find something else to do. Do you think all shop floor staff who get pregnant get laid off? Of course they don't. Anyway, it's all moot points since she clearly won't be working there as she assumed a quick glance from a member of staff (who wouldn't be in the recruitment process) over her application form meant she didn't have a chance hence no online application.
Does she still have the completed appliation form so that she can show the JCP that it was completed? And she could ask Boots to check their CCTV - they are bound to have her entering the shop and possible speaking to the Customer Service area. Might convince the JCP and then lift the sanction.
Ummm the point that she should apply for ESA. That's all.
Boots have procudres in place for pregnant women yes. But the difference is these women are already employed. I can guarantee you that if they sat down and looked a 2cv's and one said that the applicant was pregnant they would choose the other.
Personally i think to make someone apply for jobs while they are pregnant is a stupid thing to do, let alone sanction a pregnant woman for handing in a completed application form by hand instead of applying on-line. before the baby is born she'd be off with maternity leave anyway...0
