I don't know why she just didn't come home and use her Mum's PC and apply online though? For all it would have took her as it would have been a simple case of copying the info.
That's of course assuming that there was an application form completed and it was attempted to be handed in to the shop.
Boots are pretty good with pregnant staff, they even have maternity uniforms (that look like something from the seventies!), so they could find something for them to do.Gone ... or have I?0 -
You might be right about the H&S worries. I have no idea, although shop staff (whcih is presumably what she was applying for) must get pregnant and keep working until fairly close to birth.
Fair point. It's a difficult one and it's frustrating that for the sake of her applying online, all this could have been avoided....grrr0 -

I actually think their maternity wear is quite fetching!!:o Better than when you see shop staff squeezing in/bursting out of their uniform as the company clearly don't 'do' maternity wear!!
Years ago I worked for Boots (in the opticians) and I have to say I am surprised by this. They are a great 'people' company so I am struggling with them point blank refusing to accept an application form as well.0 -

She is!
The OP's daughter is pregnant to a man who beat her up so presumably she will never receive child support or the child have the Father in it's life.
True
She is 18 and already can't afford to feed herself.
True also, at the moment, doesn't mean to say it's always going to be this way
It's not a blinkered view. It may be unpalatable to some people but just because conception has happened, doesn't mean the pregnancy has to continue.
That has nothing to do with us, the OP asked for advice about a JSA sanction not whether her daughter should have a baby or have it adopted!
Does she think she is being a good Mum just now does she? Stressing out with the potential to go hungry and cold? When you become a Mum, the child bests interests are paramount and the poster was just pointing out that maybe this isn't the best thing for the child to be in this situation.
That's not for her or anyone else to decide, aqain this does not answer the original question!0 -

she is going to be a single parent, she will be skint, SHE WILL COPE, my god!, whats best for baby, is to be with its mother who will love it and provide for it as best she can, whether on benefits or otherwise!, give her a chance !
Will she be skint as a single parent on full benefits with her rent, ct paid for? My younger sister (20 years) who works full time for minimum wage is skint, she is having a difficult time paying the bills and keeping warm, she actually said to me last night it would be easier to get pregnant and give up work, then she wouldn't have to face work with a bullying boss, and struggling to pay her rent, ct etc. Is this what young girls are thinking these days? I told her having a baby is the hardest job ever, I just hope she doesn't do anything silly.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Loopy Girl - She is not interested in either adoption or abortion. It is not her fault that the man she was with turned out to be a nutter either. She will be able to feed herself once this sanction is lifted, and there was indeed a form taken to Boots. She took it in personally because she thought she would stand a better chance for showing she had made the effort to do so, its unfortunate that she didn't then complete it online but assumed she would have no chance as the lady on the Customer services had glanced through it and then given it back to her. She had also applied for other jobs aswell. If you think I am lying about the form then thats your problem, and do you seriously think Boots would have employed someone who is pregnant to maul about all their Christmas stock? Incidentally, a friends daughter walked away from school with ten A* GCSE grades and can't even get a reply from McDonalds.
To everyone who has given good advice, thank you for taking the time to reply.0 -
Just a friendly note to the OP, you don't paint yourself in the best light when you thank posts that are suggesting benefit fraud.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

I think some do to be honest. Yes there is no going into work and your rent is paid etc etc but I think they forget that there is a baby who they will be stuck with 24/7, who don't always lay in their basket and gurgle. And then the worry of paying the rent is then shifted on how to pay the nappies....
Not to mention the loss of independance...
I hope she doesn't either OP. I am a lone parent and whilst it's a joy to be a Mum and the best job in the world it can be the loneliest and I am permanantly number crunching in my head - and I have 3 jobs!!0
