  • Agreed, I see 20-30 'fit notes' a day and Doctors only tick the 'Unfit for work' box. There are several options stating patient may be fit for light duties etc. which are NEVER ticked.

Which just shows that GPs can't be trusted to certificate where benefits are concerned and why bodies like ATOS are needed.

Sorry can't comment, don't know off-hand who atos are and to be blunt, i can't be bothered to go look either.:D
  • ATOS are the people who are paid for the re-assessment of ESA claimants and on the whole passing them all fit for work.

Op my advice, PM dooker he will probably be able to let you know if your daughter might have grounds to appeal the sanction. I think he used to work in the jsa realm.

And when they make these decisions, they will be based on the persons actual health at time of assessment.? Or goverment targets they might be under pressure to meet..?

Boots have procudres in place for pregnant women yes. But the difference is these women are already employed. I can guarantee you that if they sat down and looked a 2cv's and one said that the applicant was pregnant they would choose the other.

Personally i think to make someone apply for jobs while they are pregnant is a stupid thing to do, let alone sanction a pregnant woman for handing in a completed application form by hand instead of applying on-line. before the baby is born she'd be off with maternity leave anyway...

It is not the benefits agency that has made this girl pregnant, it is the girl and what ever feller she had. If she is claiming JOB SEEKERS ALLOWANCE, then she has to seek a job, that is what she gets the money for. JSA is exactly what it says. and if you are not looking for a job it gets stopped and rightly too.

I was unwell after a knee op this year and had it not been for the boxes getting ticked and comments made by GP then I wouldn't have been able to go back to work.

Guess it all depends on the persons keeness to get back to work.

The ones you see - ESA claimants are they?

    .

Look she made an honest mistake. She did apply but not in the correct way. The obvious thing for the jsa to do would have been to give her a warning. Any fool can see that surely.

I don't doubt she did make an honest mistake but there are rules there and if they are not adhered to then sanctions must be placed.

When does it end? 1 warning, 2...3?

I am glad you are yawning it's what i do when i see stupid posts like yours.;)

It is you that are walking around with your eyes shut. JSA is for job seekers, not people who dont want to work because they know that in a few months time they will be getting even more benefits to raise a child.
