The Great Jessops Price Match Challenge!
Comments
-
i went to jessops yesterday and asked about price matching (memory duo stick thingy) and was told
'we only price match on SLRs'
not impressed... didnt buy from them (did buy a camera bag though cos that seemed quite good value)Willow: I knew it, I knew it, well not in the sense of having the slightest idea, but I knew there was something I didn't know!0 -
Email from Jessup’s Direct:-
"The price match is an in-store only offer. The company you wish them to match must be a UK based company, and the stock they sell much be genuine UK stock. If you take along either a print out, or a copy of the advert where you have seen an item cheaper, you will need to take it along to the store, and then the store will see if they can match the price."
I then rang a store (Croydon) which said they are currently only offering the 110% pricing policy to Digital SLR cameras. Any other goods, like the camcorder I wanted, are not even part of a price match policy. When I quoted the price from Amazon or like, he said he could not even match it, but would meet half way!
I feel that this thread needs to be updated to reflect the current Jessop's store policy, which is distinctly different from when this thread started.
Should people who are disappointed with this change in policy, and have seen adverts (when was the last advert seen and where) clearly stating a 110% pricing policy on all products, get together and email the Jessop’s store head office?0 -

I have an advert in the January 2007 issue (issue 2) of Digital SLR Photography magazine. I could scan it and email it to you if you let me know your email address, if that would help.0 -
But it appears to vary depending on which store you go to, and even how much you argue with them!
When I went to the Canary Wharf branch, I was also told they only price-match dSLR's... I went to the Maidstone branch where they happily pricematched everything.... memory card and camera etc....0 -
PS Following the posts where people have been told the price match only is for digital SLRs, the ad states:
"We aim to be unbeatable, but if you see any camera, camcorder or printer we sell online or at a UK high street competitor, we will give you 110% of the difference if you buy it from us. [...]"0 -

It's displayed on page 108 of their current catalogue (issue 4) available from all Jessops stores. It clearly states "...if you see ANY product we sell at an online or UK high street competitor, we will give you 110% of the difference if you buy it from us". No mention whatsoever that this is limited to dSLR's, even in the small print.0 -
Im looking to get the cannon Powershot A540 for Christmas.
The camera ia £115 (£120.17 with P+P) at my cameras 2006 (http://www.mycameras2006.com/myshop/product_info.php?products_id=112!!34}66)
At jesops it is £219.99
So it seems that i could get the camera from jessops for £110.20?
Does this seem right to everyone and have you seen it cheaper anywhere else?
Also does the company only have to be UK based if its highstreet and so although this place is based in Asia it is ok as it is online?
Thanks in advance.0 -

I ended up getting one from Amazon @ £125 as the only Jessops I found with it in stock said they would only price match on SLRs but your right they should do it for about £110.0 -
Edit: Policy now changed, again!0

I've just been into Jessops in Bracknell to have a look at a few DSLRs. Bad news I'm afraid:
They've recalled all the catalogues.
They've been told centrally to stop doing price matches.
Shame really, I was going to try and get them to price match Digital Rev as well!0
