  • hello, my first post, but the brazilian keratin treatment is very close to my heart! I forked out £150 for the 'Global Keratin' brazilian treatment after lots of research. My hair is fine and frizzy curly naturally. Before the treatment, straightening would only last a day, less than that if there was moisture in the air. Because it was dry, i could only straighten it once every 3-4 days and even then I was using L'oreal Kerastase masque (£23).
After the treatment, my hair was super shiny and would stay straight even in light rain. I straightened my hair every other day without damage. I had the treatment 3 months ago, whilst it is still holding its shape well and in much better condition than pre-treatment, i will be having another treatment done next week. I miss how my hair was in the early days.
If you've got the money and frizz/dryness is driving you mad and your hair doesnt stay straight then go for it!

Thank you, I will investigate Sally's - not quite clear what the stuff does though - does it hold back the frizziness? My hair fine when blowdried then ten mins of dampness, one side in particular is frizzy. But the professional treatment your friend had is v expensive for just 6 -7 weeks of it looking good, as I believe its abot £200. I keep hoping Groupon might have an offer - I have only been aware of Groupon for a couple of months so it may be something that gets offered occasionally. So far it seems to be mainly hair removal!

I had my keratin straightening on a groupon offer recently for £63. TBH, I wouldn't pay that much again, as once i'd washed it (after the reccommended 5 days ) It still takes me 1 hour to dry and straighten my hair. Granted, it looks good when I've finished, but not that good. If it had stayed as fabulous as the day it was done, I would have gladly scraped together £200 every 23 months to have it done - no question.

I was really disappointed as i've struggled with my hair for years. It's curly, but not that I can wear it like that - theres too much frizz :( I'm still on the lookout for that miracle cure.

Edited to add - Sainsburys now do a home Keratin kit for £9.99. I'm gonna give that a go I think. It won't do any harm after all!

Learn to love your curly hair... lifes too short. I've discovered so many more hours in the day since I went 'au natural' and when I do straighten for a special occasion it is in much better condition and makes more of an impact because everyone is used to my curly locks now..

I hope this isnt the same salon then that the girl who is having her hair done today is using - why dont you go back and complain. In the old days when we had perms they didnt take every now and again and it was just redone. Maybe they used a trainee on you?

Pinkstar81 - do you know the brand of treatment? La Brasilia? Inoar?

Hi sexki11en - Please could you let me know where you had it done? Pm me if you like.

So I'm back from having the treatment. From all the research I've done I was under the impression I would have to leave it for 3-4 days before I could wash it. The stylist said I could wash it as soon as tomorrow.

The brand she used is Inoar. I didn't look into after-care products - as you are advised to use special shampoos and conditioners for Brazilian blow dried hair to help prolong it. I ended up buying the Inoar shampoo, conditioner and leave in conditioner for £35 (they came as a set.) I'm not too sure if this was good value as I haven't looked online at other prices yet.

At the moment my hair feels very heavy and a little sticky - as the product is still in it. I will probably wash my hair on Friday or Saturday. Sods law it was raining, well spitting, as I left the salon but fortunately i had my brolly.

I was told three days by my hairdresser when I chatted about it. ie wash on fourth day. Will find out tomorrow what brand he uses. If you have to buy all these products as well would get expensive at full price.
I think you would be advised not to hurry the washing. One thing my hairdresser said was if you wake up with any kinks pre washing straighten them. Adamant about this
Good luck. Hope you didnt go where sexkillen went- fingers crossed it all works out beautifully you deserve it the work you have put into research and helpfullness to others on this thread.

Sorry, yeah it just smoothes and tames rthe frizz. Your hair sounds similar to mine (blow drying makes it fluffy, then straightening makes it flat...) and using this every week or two makes my hair much smoother and look shinier, means I can just blow dry my hair and have slightly wavy and full, but not frizzy, hair.

The way I look at it, if it lasts 4 months then it only costs me £1 a day to have good hair. On the days when I have bad hair days I would pay a fortune to have a good hair day. Haha, this is the logic that keeps me poor lol

When I first got it done it was at a salon that charged £160 for short hair with the costs increasing as the hair got longer/thick. The place i go to now is £125 so although it doesn't seem like much of a difference it is around 25% cheaper.
