you can get your hair permed into big curls/waves, not sure if that could be what you mean?

Are you talking about the Brazilian Keratin Treatment (BKT)? I don't think it makes curls, it just takes the 'shout' out of your hair so its easier to style. But its not cheap, it comes with the added instructions to use certain haircare products (or you risk washing it out). And in some places they don't use the treatment anymore as its been given a health warning (chemicals which are breathed in). Its more a problem for the salon workers then the client but tbh it freaks me enough not to want it done anymore (as if I could ever afford it anyway!) But not heard of a permanent curl (other then a perm) just a permanent blow-dry. (Although they last 6 weeks rather then permanent!)

I have had a permanent blow dry done quite a few times and feasibly it could be done curly as it is the heat that activates the keratin rather than the straightening. If there are tongs or heated rollers that can heat up to 140 degrees then it should be possible

My hair is gettingcurlier/frizzier as I get older- does the permanent blow dry last quite well - its about 3 months? Or is it only at its best for a few weeks. Its so expensive and I dont know anyone who has had it done.

Mine have lasted for ages each time but that may be because I don't wash my hair very often (twice a week at most). If you like your hair absolutely poker straight it is at its best in the first couple of weeks but even months later the manageability is amazing. I last had it done mid-August and was thinking I would need it done again by now but it still only requires a quick run through of the straighteners. I can now have poker straight hair in 5 minutes rather than the 40 minutes it would have taken me before.

When I first got it done it was at a salon that charged £160 for short hair with the costs increasing as the hair got longer/thick. The place i go to now is £125 so although it doesn't seem like much of a difference it is around 25% cheaper.

My friend had a keratin blow dry on very curly/frizzy hair, she used all the recommended products(they lasted almost 3 months) and her hair was silky smooth and straight for 6 weeks then got progressively curlier then frizzier, back to normal in 3.5 months.

If there is a sallys by you (or just online) they sell a home keratin treatment by ion repair solutions "reconstructor treatment keratin protein builder". You can buy a single use sachet for ~£1 or a big bottle. It's much better than any serums or conditioners to smooth your hair, used once a week it does the smoothing part of a professional keratin treatment. It doesn't contain formaldehyde like some salon keratin treatments do.
Living cheap in central London :rotfl:

Thank you, I will investigate Sally's - not quite clear what the stuff does though - does it hold back the frizziness? My hair fine when blowdried then ten mins of dampness, one side in particular is frizzy. But the professional treatment your friend had is v expensive for just 6 -7 weeks of it looking good, as I believe its abot £200. I keep hoping Groupon might have an offer - I have only been aware of Groupon for a couple of months so it may be something that gets offered occasionally. So far it seems to be mainly hair removal!

Wow! yours has worked out good value for money. So if you get the frizz out in the morning with straighteners does it hold against the dampness? Thats my problem really.
And where is your salon? Mine charges £200 - they use a 'technician' so I dont suppose she is necessarily a fully qualifed hairdresser. I suppose its the time it takes that makes it expensive but it does seem fairer for short hair to be cheaper.
