Permanent big curl blowdry anyone??

  • Hi All,

I'm having my first Brazilian Blow Dry tomorrow! After months and months of pondering I thought I'd bite the bullet. I found a discount from groupon, paying £80 for the treatment and haircut rather then their usual £250 so thought why not!

I have read mixed reviews.. seems to work wonders on some and not so much on others. It's down to the individual's hair I guess. My hair is thick and frizzy. I have been straightening it for around 10 years now. Over the years my hair has become easier to straighten (as if it's learnt to be straighter.) Even my hairdresser who I have had for 6-7 years says how more manageable it has become over time. My hairdresser can easily blow-dry it straight without straighteners. I however, still need to run straighteners over it when I blow dry it (for about 10mins rather then 45 minutes I used to.) My hair stays straight until it gets wet.

I am hoping from the Brazilian Blow Dry that my hair will be more shiney and I will be able to wash and let it dry naturally without being a frizz ball. I am not expecting it to dry naturally poker straight, just wavey/curly but with no frizzes.

I will report back and let you know how it goes. I wish I had planned this better and taken a shot of my hair dried naturally before the treatment to show you all and compare it to after i have the treatment!

Anyway I am quite excited to see the results and hopefully the salon will do a good job if the treatment usually costs £250!

easy-tiger , good luck!! I think the groupon offer must have been before I signed up a few weeks ago, I hope they offer it again. What salon is it?
Lots of luck and we will all look forward to the picture. I gather that any bits that go AWOL have to be straightened by you on days one two and three - I think that is when you wash it.

Wow! yours has worked out good value for money. So if you get the frizz out in the morning with straighteners does it hold against the dampness? Thats my problem really.
And where is your salon? Mine charges £200 - they use a 'technician' so I dont suppose she is necessarily a fully qualifed hairdresser. I suppose its the time it takes that makes it expensive but it does seem fairer for short hair to be cheaper.

C'mon lady, get your MSE head on. Phone round all the salons locally and ask if any do it and if there are any options for a trainee doing it. There are always ways to get the same product cheaper. Make it less of a risk and enjoy great hair. :j

all the salons charge the same give or take a tenner. And its a technician that does itnot a hairdresser. Anyway, good luck let us all see the after shots!
  • Moneylover - The groupon deal was posted on Monday

    http://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/london/aqffin/185947?CID=UK_AFF_1047_10_1_1&utm_source=aff_1047&utm_medium=aff_10&utm_campaign=aff_1&utm_content=aff_1&nlp

It's sold out now :( I've seen them in quite a few of these money saving websites so I'll keep my eyes peeled for you. It's a salon called Aqffin near Liverpool Street.

I will report back. Ohhh exciting. Although I'm trying to not get my hopes up too high with the result. x
  • There's also a lot of mobile hairdressers doing the treatment for under £100 on Gumtree. Check this out if you're London based. x http://www.gumtree.com/cgi-bin/list_postings.pl?search_terms=Brazilian&search_location=London&ubercat=2554

  • Moneylover. Whereabouts in Essex are you based? I am from Essex too so started to looking into Essex based hairdressers. Are you anywhere near Brentwood? Let me know, I found a good deal for a salon there. and also my friend recommended one in Harold Wood... not sure if you're from that area? x

Easy Tiger I am in Chelmsford. My hairdresser is excellent but expensive. I think I will prob wait for a Groupon deal again - yours sounds such marvellous value and I am sure you are getting high quality products which is important and a stylist who does these blow drys regularly. You have to be careful otherwise its a bit like going for a cheap perm . But I am sure the deals will get cheaper at the hairdressers too although there is a limit as its a time consuming process. But I think that hairdressers should def charge lessfor short hair and some now do. Thanks for all your help
  • Pleasure. Will let you know how it goes. x
