He ended it as someone kept bidding on it......... (look at bid history)"Success is not to be measured by the position someone has reached in life, but the obstacles he has overcome while trying to succeed." Booker T. Washington

This has got to be one of the most entertaining threads I have read in any forum or chat board. I can relate to the entire subject.
Years ago when I first entered in to eBay I sold an eBook I had just released about how to legally repair your UK credit history. (Yes it can be done legally).
Anyway, I made the mistake of selling this as a word doc which was quickly purchased and copied and resold by another seller for quite some time before I found out. I was very naive back then.
Cutting a long story shorter than war and peace.....
I packaged up my ebook and created a website etc, turned it in to a business but when I tried to list it on eBay a 'new' user came along and bought every copy on every listing and never paid (shock I wonder who that could have been).
It escelated to the point where this 'unknown' person got my contact details from eBay and started making threatening phone calls from a phone box 30 yards away from my home. This guy threatened to petrol bomb my house if I ever tried to list my item on ebay again.
Everything was reported to the police and eBay, the person was finally traced but the CPS decided it would not be in the public interest to persue the case through the courts and he was give a formal caution instead (woo big deal).
This person reinvented themself on eBay and is still selling the item to this day although I have on many occasions reported the listings to eBay for copyright violations with great success.
I did also trace the person reponsible too. Young lad, about 17 years old, living with mummy and daddy. The police told me he was at college and he wouldln't be doing anything like this again as it would cost him his career that he was studying for.
Maybe these two are related to each other or the guy who caused me so much hassle made a career teaching others how to do the same?
You gotta love eBay and the criminal justice system :think:0 -
mickyboy thats an appalling thing to happen...all as a result of an eBay sale! I am amazed the police caught anyone though it is very dissapointing that it did not proceed to prosecution.
Think the people that respond (or not) to eBay reports submitted and the people at the CPS must be one and the same!0 -
Mickyboy - your boy apparently didn't learn and our 'Picasso Boy' would never learn - he'll appear again, even if using a different ID. But he's pretty recognisable, so we''ll spot him.

Of course, I wouldn't have a clue who did that under an alias *cough* *cough*
