Can I ask a pertinant question and I am not being sarcastic or a troll.

But How on Earth can you choose a christmas tree online and be happy with it.

All trees are unique, I have a hard enough time, trying to choose one in the garden centre- ''That ones nice but that twig sticks out more than on that side'' etc How could you leave it to anyone else to choose for you and be happy with it? It's the same with internet flowers, I want to see what I am giving someone for a gift, I wouldnt trust it to anyone else.

I do hope you all get your money back, and people learn from this experience, but with the great british public it will be forgotten about in a few weeks and happen again next year

Some things are designed to be bought in shops !

I think if you choose a tree endorsed by the Brittish Christmas Trees Association, you will get a good tree. After the fiascal with the company on this thread we ended up with a really nice 7.5ft tree from xmastreesales.co.uk. I would recommend them and will probably use them next year.

I have had my money refunded from christmastrees2u. I hope everyone else gets their money back too. I buy a lot of stuff online and this has been my first bad transaction. I will definitely check sites more carefully before paying in the future!

With regard to ordering Christmas trees online, I have done so for the last five years and have always been very pleased with the trees received.

Unfortunately this year I ordered from christmastrees2u and encountered the problems others have in this post.

I have contacted them several times to request a refund, having eventually cancelled the order as they both hadn't delivered and refused to communicate with me but I have yet to receive a refund.

Has anyone else had problems obtaining a refund from this company?
  • Ok Darren, so how come theres so many complaints and people still not refunded or in receipt of your trees?. I myself have reported you to Sandwell metroploitan Council by which you are being investigated. And also by Consumer Direct. I ordered a tree from you on Nov 26th. My money was taken immediately. Promised delivery date 3rd Dec. As you well know, you didnt deliver, you gave me 2 more vague delivery dates with no timescale and impossible to arrange for someone to be at home to take delivery, I lost 4 days off work thanks to you, no tree ever came, no apology and it was impossible to get through to you to request a refund verbally over either of your numbers. Emails were not responded to either - so how could anyone physically and definitively aquire a refund from you Darren? Then the website was disabled. Strangely it was fully operational up to xmas day..why is that Darren? If you were swamped with orders and unable to cope surely the site should have been disabled much earlier...oh yeah, I forget, you could still take peoples money via Nochex as they were blissfully unaware that you had no intention of supplying any trees. Prove me wrong Darren, give me a full refund for the 7ft Norwegian Spruce I ordered and payed for from your bogus site. Oh and how are people who left their order numbers on your site meant to retrieve them to claim their refund now the sites disabled? Any ideas Darren? Thought not. Liar.
  • Here's another one who 1. Never received a tree. 2. Never received a refund. I hope you sleep well at night Darren Billingham.
  • Yep - me too! Tried to contact him many times, but no response. I've now reported him to Nochex who are also really unhelpful - they say they can't get hold of him and keep telling me to contact him myself (despite the fact I've told them it is impossible).

Well David - since you seem to be able to watch this site, please refund everyone you've stolen money from - otherwise it seems there are many who will be reporting this matter to the police.
  • Hi All

Have today contacted Sandwell Trading Standards (responsible for the Cradley Heath area) and the West Midlands Police, also found a consumer scam website linked to Sandwell District Council and have posted details regarding Christmastrees 2U. Wish me luck and I will let you know how I get on.

    Order Number 4634
  • Hi All

I have received an email from the West Midlands Police this morning regarding Daniel Billingham. I have copied in this post the main body of the email, urging as many people as possible to contact Sandwell Trading Standards. You can do this by contacting Chris Coxon at Sandwell District Council.

Please make sure you do as Chris has said in an email to me that they are investingating the trading practices of Christmastrees 2U.

Even if we have lost our money on this one, hopefully we can stop them from trading this year and stop even more people being ripped off.

    West Midlands Police :-

"With regards to what has happened however it is not something that we would fully investigate, as this type of fraud is a matter for Trading Standards due to the offender actually being a Company. It is also a border line Civil Matter Debt, as you have been promised goods and/or refund by a specific date but not received it.

I have been involved in many cases very similar to this one, and even though on many of those, I had put in a lot of work and gathered evidence which clearly shown the crime, I had to stop the case as the Crown Prosecution Service and/or the Law Courts would not prosecute as it fell under Tranding Standards regulations and not criminal.

What I will do for you though is forward your email onto our Trading Standards liaison officer PC Wintrip whom is based at West Bromwich Police Station and ask him to provide you with details of whom best to report to.

I would sugegst and highly recommend though that you and all the other victims of this fraud report it to Trading Standards as soon as possible and they will investigate and hopefully prosecute Mr Billingham and they will get an order which prevents future trading by his company."

Also please note with regards to refunds, please note Chris Coxon's note below:-

"Regarding your complaint, you need to write to the company, requesting an immediate refund. Under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000, a consumer is entitled to a full refund within 30 days if the goods are not provided by the delivery date agreed. Keep a copy of the letter and send it recorded delivery. Further advice is available at consumer direct."

So come on everyone, don't give up, please contact the relevant people. Nothing ventured nothing gained !!
