The site comes up as suspicious from the start.
Domain namechristmastrees2u.co.ukRegistrantDarren BillinghamRegistrant typeUK IndividualRegistrant's addressThe registrant is a non-trading individual who has opted to have their address omitted from the WHOIS service.
He shouldn't be hiding his address as a business. I'd start a chargeback with paypal, it looks pretty suspicious and if it's not, well if your tree appears you cancel the chargeback.

A quick addition. I checked the address on the site, it's a nice collection of residential flats and houses. there's a christmastrees2u.com which I assume they are trying to trade off the good name of.
I've let nominet know that the registration details are incorrect so you may find his address appears on the whois soon. They responded to say "We have investigated christmastrees2u.co.uk and have issued notice to the registrant and registrar that the address details for the domain name will be opted in to the WHOIS unless changes are made so that the domain name meets the opt-out criteria."
  • I ordered two christmas trees from christmastrees2u.co.uk on the 7th Dec 2010, none of which were delivered on the date they specified so naturally I tried to call them to find out when the tree's would be delivered. Just like everyone else who's posted on this thread, the land line number they have on their site rings unanswered and the mobile number has a full voicemail so you can't leave another message.

At this stage I did start to panic a little as i'm now short by £119.80, had no idea when they would be arriving. So rather than not know I decided to email them and cancel my order as I am entitled to under distance selling regs but as yet I am still to receive a confirmation that they are going to a) cancel my order and b) refund my money.

Because I have been unable to contact the retailer directly I have tried to get in touch with NoChex but they seem to be as elusive at the website i'm trying to get my money back from.

DARREN BILLINGHAM - If you're interested in sorting my order out, please get in touch. My username on here is my real name and will match up against my order on your system so please find the cancellation email I sent you on 10th Dec and process it so that I can get my money back and enjoy my Christmas!

    Thanks,

    Robert
  • Hs anyone actually received a tree in good order?

I have now sent 4 emails trying to get this tree delivered.... No response any more from the company.

I have been forced to cancel the order due to the lack of information and now not being able to take any more time off to accept delivery. I've been given 3 dates which were no show'ers...

Does anyone know, if I get no reply from the refund request, how I go about claiming back the money through NoChex or my bank ? (If i can indeed!!) I've never had to do this
  • Update, after no further contact from christmastrees2u.co.uk I submitted a support ticket online through the NoChex website explaining the situation.

Althouh NoChex state on their website that they will not get involved in merchant / shopper disputes they emailed me back this afternoon to say that they have spoken to someone at christmastrees2u and that they are facilitating the refund of my money which should hit my bank in three working days.

Hopefully the refund will be successful, NoChex clearly don't have a chargeback system in place as they make the money that is collected on behalf of their merchants immediately available for drawdown to the merchant rather than having a 30 day or so grace period like other merchant services providers would normally insist on. I'm no financial whizz but I can see that a system like that is open to abuse by retailers as they have no incentive to fulfill the order. I'm not saying that this is the case with christmastrees2u, I do believe they are genuinely facing backorder, weather related, over promising issues.

It's a relief that NoChex have responded as I used my debit card and the Yorkshire Bank have since advised me that there is zero protection on a debit card transaction.

Ordered my tree in November for delivery Monday 6th December. Received an email stating that due to the bad weather they were running 3 to 4 days behind schedule. Received another email on Wednesday 8th December saying our tree would now be delivered either Thursday 9th or Friday 10th December.

Oh what a surprise no tree has arrived. No response to emails, landline just rings out, cannot leave a message on mobile.

We have no option but to go and buy a new tree this morning:(

I've cancelled the order last night and also this morning but because there is no response you don't really know if it will turn up today/tomorrow/Monday or whenever.

    Should I contact Paypal?

Very frustrated and annoyed. Will never trust again & make sure we buy our tree next year locally.

    Thanks

Still no tree. Sent an email on Friday & Saturday canceling the order but I've had no response. I've given trying to call as the phone is never answered. I've now taken forward with Paypal & my credit card company. I'll let you know if anything changes.

Dear Rob, Could you please tell me how you sorted out the refund through NoChex as I have still had no contact with christmastrees2u, even though I have requested a refund. Please help, thanks.

Hi I'm new on here but I also ordered a tree from Christmastrees2u.co.uk late in November and it has not arrived. I have emailed the company and tried to phone but no joy. I do however think that this is a legit company but perhaps they have simply taken on too much and can't deliver. If that is the case they certainly should not be taking more orders on their website and maybe a notice on there on how to get a refund might be appropriate, given the amount of people who want to cancel.

Anyway I have cancelled my order with them today via their email box on their site but have also contacted Nochex.com and they have confirmed today that they have been in touch with the proprieter and that I will get a refund to my account in 3-4 days. So far I have had an immediate response from Nochex who I can't recommend enough for their handling of the situation

Anyone wishing to go this route to get a refund can do so by going onto the Nochex.com site. On the main page scroll down to the link that says "Shopper Support" once in there scroll down again to the "support ticket" link. In the next page click the sales button and "next" you will then be in the "Submit a ticket" page which asks for details of the problem etc. Fill in the form and "submit" and they will contact you as soon as possible. I only had to wait for an hour and they were extremely helpful

    Good Luck :)

yes ive recieved a tree from these people but as i said above it was a load of rubbish so they either dont deliver at all or by the looks of it when they do the tree is not in good condition and also badly packaged so the tree is not protected fully, im still waiting for a reply to my email, a refund and for them to pick it up. i will never buy a tree online again.

Hi there, just thought i'd let you know that I got a refund after contacting NoChex - Sent them an e-mail and someone rang me within the hour and the money was credited to my card 3 days later. However, I think I may have been one of the first to complain and I did actually report the site to the police. One thing I was doubtful about was NoChex saying they had processed over 500 transactions with christmastrees2u and no one else had complained, but at the end of the day they gave me my money back - so you should definitely contact them asap - Good luck
  • I too have had similar issues with this company I have had a very late delivery of entirely the wrong trees that I ordered ( i don't see how the snow can cause this error)and am hoping for a refund as they are simply not usable I have emailed phoned etc etc to no avail If this company is genuine they would be answering the disgruntled customers and attempting to amend rather than causing further upset.
also contacted the british tree growers association as the tree had a label on it from them but they say this company is not a member and they have given me names of recommended growers to contact in future
