All roads are clear, and I can walk all of the pavements so why cant he ? It is after all what he is paid to do. Is the footwear provided not suitable ? And just what do the non delivering postmen do for their shift? Is he sent home without pay - now if so I'm sure that he would suddenly find the post more deliverable.
I am sure you are doing an admirable job (you have said as much) its just you are not my postwoman - I wish you were( maybe you wouldnt walk across my lawn either !)0 -
I think we all judge on our own experiences. I have had good and bad, parcels thrown over the gate, parcels stashed in a safe place which we only found 2 months later...ruined. Parcels left at the wrong address etc etc. No one is saying that it is an easy job, but who has one of those? if you take the job surely you should do it properly?0

Because there is no reason for my postman not to deliver my post.

they would be if the duty was deemed suitable for the delivery and they refused.
so evidently there is a reason.perhaps you should speak to the manager(s) who make that call.......0 -
I started this thread when we had a temp postman who kept leaving everyones parcels out in the snow. However, i never wanted people to generalise about postmen it was just my vent about one particular one.
As i put in my original post our normal postie is great. he makes every effort to leave parcels for us or with a neighbour etc. I was planning on a little something to say thank you for all his effort that has saved us lots of trips to the post office to collect missed deliveries.
To any posties out there. Are you allowed to accept gift? I was thinking a little thank you card and chocs.0 -

Really?, I always like to tip my regular postie for his commitment to doing a good job over the Year. Nothing much, a Christmas card with a little cash, but enough to put a cheer on his face for feeling appreciated, are you saying he has to declare such gifts?
I cant find the document, but i used to have the official doc
IIRC it relates more to gifts and the interests of the business
eg a company slips a postie some cash to get mail unofficially redirected
so RM loses money0 -
i should be safe with giving him a choc orange :-)0

I dont think my PostMAN minds, be that is exactly what HE is
- Delivery Postmen and Postwomen are responsible for sorting and delivering the mail on their routes, whatever the weather! Depending on where you are based you might make your delivery on foot, by bike or a small van.
- Delivery Postmen and Postwomen who take on a basic van driving role would, occasionally, be required to cover driving duties such as transporting mail to and from mail processing centres, delivery offices and airports. They would also collect mail from businesses, post offices and postboxes.
