Its a symptom of the english disease, bone idle. always moaning about conditions, pay etc.
My bloody postie always walks across my lawn, in fact he has created a path, always leaves parcels without ringing.
My symptom of ED is I havent tackled him about it.
I agree
about bloody time you put some slabs down0 -
We are still snowed in. The main village road it now open but the lanes and are still covered in compacted snow and ice. Too dangerous for them.
Paper lady is getting round by car all right.
For that lenght of time? Where exactly do you live if you don't mind me asking. Even in the worst hit areas people I know only had mail deliveries delayed by most about a week. Several weeks poor you0 -
I like to think I'm fairly tolerant and accept that all that the delivery services are busy this time of year and that the awful weather conditions have made their job difficult and has delayed deliveries.
That said . . .
Am I alone in thinking it unacceptable to leave a large cardboard box in the snow all day (delivery card through door stated parcel was "behind car"!!). My car was at home because the snow was so bad and by the time I got home the box was covered with a foot of snow. When i picked it up the box was so sodden that the item (a large breadmaker) fell out. It didn't help that when I took it all inside to sort I noticed the outside of the box was blood stained. (Amazon were excellent at sorting it but would rather not have had the hassle).
Yesterday, i went to answer the door and the delivery man was getting into his van (orange unmarked - have no idea who the company was the label says "Hermes"?). He'd just knocked on the door then left the parcel by the front door (in the snow) no card left. He did come back and hand it to me(?!) as I was standing there slightly stunned.
Also, I have a postie who thinks putting items in my dustbin(!) constitutes delivery, when I asked him not to he became rude, saying "well where do you want me to put it then", Was sooooo tempting to tell him where to put it - I had to bite my tongue!!
In short, If a delivery service chooses to "abandon" rather than actually "deliver" who is liable if things go missing? Especially since some companies don't seem to leave delivery cards so you wouldn't know if something had gone missing after "delivery"0 -

Nottinghamshire. This is our latest update.
Service Update for customers in the Midlands on Friday 10 December - last updated 08:20
Severe weather conditions
Although weather conditions are easing, they are continuing to cause problems for our services in several localised parts of the Midlands. Where services are disrupted, this may be due to unsafe conditions en-route to specific addresses, rather than in the immediate vicinity of properties.
Deliveries and collections are likely to have been affected in the following postcodes likely to be affected yesterday:
Many parts of the DE and ST postcode areas.
WV 1 to 12; DY12; LE65, LE67, LE12, LE14 (rural).
Areas in and around the towns of: Tamworth, Mansfield, Grantham, Newark, Litchfield and Rugeley, especially the more rural parts.

about 1.5 million tracked items
over 5000 trolleys of packets
last night they were expecting 5 train loads to come up
they got one
still plenty of snow up here and the mini thaw has caused flooding and made the pavements/uncleared roads super icy!0 -

How can any of you call your postmen/woman lazy or idiots!!!!
Post rounds here didn't go out for nearly a week, now they take one half of the walk one day and the other half the next, one half takes them 6 hrs... some days this week it has been minus 10 out there. The general public have shovelled the snow from the drives onto the paths!! how they expect the postie to actually get around the delivery I'll never know.
I expect when you all do get all your post you'll be moaning about the bills and junk mail!
Believe me they are doing all they can to catch up. There are plenty of couriers who are well behind too.
I'm certainly not lazy or an idiot.. I have worked well over my hours this week! I haven't taken one meal relief! and I am also working all weekend- at the expense of been with my child. Reading comments like these make me wonder why!!!0 -
Its quite possible not every postie is so keen as you are, you may be surprised to know that in all manner of delivery companies, you do get a small group of idle employees. Just because your not one of the idiot or lazy postal workers, does not mean every single other member of staff is or isn't.
My previous house was a nightmare for postmen, not once did I get a parcel, plenty of "sorry you were out" cards, in the majority of cases, they were personally handed to me at the door.
I cannot fault the postal service at my current house, whether or not from relief staff, I have always had my parcels and packages delivered with no qualms. However this was never the case at my previous address, the whole depot seemed full of layabouts, who quite simply could not be bothered with anything thicker than an envelope.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I got a PM on my Facebook on Wednesday from someone I didn't know with regards to a parcel for me...Turns out she lives round the corner from me in 'Close'...I live in 'Court',Anyway,on leaving to collect the parcel from her,the was a parcel for her sitting on my doorstep!
Seems the postman cannot read the big roadsign not 20 feet from my apartment with my road on it!!0
