  • Well after being origionally impressed I am now very disappointed by Hi Ho silver. My husband and I both placed orders on friday night, him for a £32 charm bead bracelet for me and myself for a bead and a polishing cloth (to make it over £15) as a treat for myself. We had seperate email codes but recieved an email today saying they have cancelled the order for the braclet but sending the bead order as apparantly terms and conditions said only one email per household! Well if it did/does it is certainly not obvious but fair enough I guess if indeed it does say that. Not sure what on earth do they think I am going to do with just a charm bead though, plus the braclet was worth more so really don't get why they didn't cancel the bead! worse than that they have charged our credit card for both orders! Not so impressive, so as it stands at the moment I am getting a useless bead and polishing cloth which has cost us £29, now I bet we will have to spend ages chasing up the refund! Wish we hadn't bothered. I did feel abit guilty about doing the 2 orders at the time but guilt eased because I knew I would buy many more beads from them in the future, shame.

    Has anyone taken the time to read the apology on the Hiho silver website, the bit that most of you will be interested in, is;

    " All £15 vouchers already issued will be honoured, we’re just setting up the website to do it and we will post a blog when it’s ready to go – however please note that the free p&p offer was only for last weekend. Many thanks for bearing with us while we sort this out. If you do need any further information about this, please feel free to e-mail"

    Also;

    "Over the weekend, these two offers were posted on a voucher code site and we were absolutely inundated – to the point that many items sold out – and we had many people registering multiple e-mail addresses and claiming the offer more than once. Unfortunately, our website had a glitch and was also allowing the code to be used with the free p&p offer and on Help for Heroes charity items – which should not be the case as it cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. We had to take action quickly, we couldn’t remove the free p&p offer, the only thing we could do was to implement another voucher code – and the next price break on our system is a £10 e-voucher if you spend £25."

    Good on Hiho I say!

    I hope they do sort it all out. I did have my eye on the help for heroes items as with OH being a serving soldier I have to support our lads but can't often afford it what with mess bills, housing, bills etc and dress uniforms / mess dress they have to buy etc plus everything else on top i.e ball gowns for recent mandatory xmas ball :mad:

    I'm keeping an eye on when they get them in stock and will defo buy if they honour the original £10 off £15 offer

    I read the first half of that blog on their website earlier today, they have obviously added the second part about honouring the £10 off £15 vouchers later on.

    I am one of the people that was less than impressed at the way they handled this, because I felt that nearly doubling the minimum spend was unfair, BUT I hold my hands up and say that if they do honour the vouchers already issued, then they are doing their best to make amends.

    I still think the comms haven't been great, and it would have been far better to have simply suspended the code over the free delivery weekend (and changed the min spend for future sign ups if they wished) and communicated that clearly to us, letting us know when it would be active again, or offering the option to pay p&p.

    I will keep following this, and if they do honour the code and the minimum spend I will certainly give them a try. Much as the handling of this incident has put my back up, I really want to like them!

    Well I used the £10 off offer - I also had the free p&p but never applied for it - it just came automatically - so don't see that I was trying to use two offers - it was just a nice bonus for me and a mistake on their set-up.

    EDIT - my two pearl bracelets arrived today in a lovley purple gift bag. A bit smaller than expected but still nice. The parcels need signing for - just so you know.

  • Just had an email explaining the problem about the vouchers, and though I was a bit miffed at first at the change in T&Cs, I have to say well done to the company for sorting things out.

    I hope they haven't lost out too much by greedy people ordering lots of stuff under aliases etc, and I honestly think they have dealt with it fairly, and much better than some other large companies would have done.

    Well done to them, and though I haven't used my voucher yet, I hope to do so soon and just wanted to say thank you to the OP for highlighting the offer and thank you to HiHo for sorting it out in a fair and prompt manner.
  • Here here Jonnyjackov. I think for a small business to manage a situation like this as well as they have done at what must be their busiest time of year is nothing short of remarkable. It's less than 2 working days since this issue arose you know!

    Just be aware if you buy something from homeware postage is £5 but if it is Jewellery it is £2.95, orders over £50 will be free.
