As for him beeping his horn, its a warning to let others know you are there.I'd bip someone with no lights on too.

It'd have absolutely no effect on most drivers though - flashing lights might help them realise they need to turn their lights on but sounding the horn isn't going to.
  • It can also dazzle them at night. If they are too blind to realise they don't have lights on in the pitch black I don't suppose it matters though.

^^ I'd feel better in myself that id done all I possibly could before reading the paper the next day only to find "No lights driver hits and kills OAP pedestrian". At least having done my best, my conscience would clean.

The points would be valid for totting up purposes for 3 years and they can be removed from your licence after 4 years.

Really? When I was asked recently at renewal time, I was asked if I had any convictions in the last 3 years, not 5.

Well, I got the dreaded letter. Bugg3r!

    I was clocked at 39mph in a 30 zone.

Guessing that the fine is a definate (£60?) but whats the chances of getting off the points by having to do a driver awareness course? (and in that case, no points = nothing to tell insurer?)

The worst you will get is 3 points and a 60 quid fine
If it had film in it you will recieve a NIP within 14 days

oh and wait for the posts on here about speeding etc etc :D
I wouldn't count on receiving the NIP within 14-days...Bit of bad weather and the post is all over the place..And it's Christmas! :D

    Edit:

I feel stupid now...I must read the whole post and check the dates prior to jumping straight in, lol...

Catflea, does the letter not explain what's going to happen?

I believe it is at the discretion of the police as to whether you are offered a SAC - you may be lucky as over 40 in a 30 it would almost be a definite points from reading posts elsewhere.

If you refer to the following website:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com

and go into the 'speeding and criminal offences' section, post your details up there and they will advise you - some of the users of this website also use MSE.
