I was offered the census coordinator post back in November. I did my classroom training on 11th and 12th January and still not a peep from Capita since! Our trainer gave us the impression during the training that unless we did something catastrophic during the sessions, our contracts would be automatically generated at the click of a button, and he promised to click that button on the train on his way home!
Has anyone received anything from Capita since attending the classroom training? Not even sure if the contract is coming through the post or whether it is another online thing - anyone have any ideas? Some of the comments on this thread refer to the fact that potentially the ONS might have hedged their bets and over-recruited - I hope I am not one of the unlucky ones after taking 2 days out to attend the classroom training!
I also did my classroom training on 11 and 12th also. did you do yours at Kings cross? anyway i was like you and getting worried but got my contract yesterday and so did many of the people in our group. I was told by Capita that contracts go daily and it's just a question of going down the list...and if they have all your references don't worry too much it will come...BTW it arrives as an email and you have to sign in your account to accept the position.... Good luck.A friend is a present which you give yourself (R.Stevenson)

Hi. How long is the training? Some of you have mentioned hotels, do you have to stay overnight or is it just a day thing?
Thanks0 -
Poppet - thanks for that - chased them and it turns out my record hadn't been updated to show I had been on classroom training! Soooo glad I rang now, as presumably they would have eventually replaced me with another candidate, thinking I hadn't bothered turning up.
froggy27 - thanks for the info - I was trained at Swansea, not Kings Cross but same dates!
kassi - it depends on the role you have applied for. The Census Coordinator training is 2 days (as are any supervisory roles I believe) and therefore involves 2 nights away. I understand that the training for the collector and enumerator roles are half a day?0 -
Haven't had my contract through yet but had a phone call from someone earlier claiming to be from the Census asking for me, I was putting the kids to bed at the time so wife took the message, I immediately called back and asked to speak to this person, I was told they were on another call and they would call me back. Nothing tonight am a bit worried now that it's all about to go horribly wrong and they're going to not give me the job after all the training, travelling etc esp as currently unemployed cost me a fair bit to go esp if not going to get anything back.
Deep breath, anyone else had a phone call???0 -

No, but I'm having trouble with one of my references, (I believe) because I have gotten married since leaving, and the referee needs written authorisation from me... yadda yadda yadda.
I have given them written authorisation, explaining the change of name, but still a further two times, I have been asked by Capita to send it off.
I need to call them again...

Give them a call again and email.. they're probably phoning to chase a detail....to progress with your file..I think once you've done the training it should all be ok...it seems to take them longer than anticipated. Good luck..A friend is a present which you give yourself (R.Stevenson)

I'll try calling them again this evening once the kids are in bed, this time if the phone goes the wife can finish dealing with the little wotsits and ill go take the call lol.
I'm hoping that's all it is I do have something that will show up on a CRB check so maybe it's that, it was 15 years or so ago (nothing very serious) and i've been cleared by OFSTED to work with children (enhanced CRB as well) the local county council were happy with it when I worked for them too so they may just want to chat about it but i've got letters and my other CRB from OFSTED so no reason that would stop me working for them i'd have thought but maybe they need to talk about it0 -
Well have emailed and called but still haven't managed to have a conversation with them about what it is they want - arrrrgh0
-
Spoke to someone else and they don't have a clue why I was called said everything looked fine so who knows what's going on pmsl!!0

Phew, they called back as they wanted a quick personal reference, given them a number to call hopefully that's everything0
