I applied on Tuesday - have done the on-line questions and this morning the phone interview. Could someone please tell me what the next step is and how long it takes? TIA :)

Hi, I have been offered a special enumerator post. It's 25 hours a week also including evenings and weekends. Not sure how much I'll be doing at weekends though as I have to deliver and collect from Communal Establishments and managers aren't likely to be there at weekends, not at hospitals and old people's homes I wouldn't have thought!! Just got to do the classroom training now. I too am a little concerned about childcare for my baby but hopefully my childminder can be flexible!

    Good luck all.

After the phone interview, they are normally quite quick to send you an email and ask you to complete the next step....

  • Does anyone know whether you would be expected to be available to work on the bank holidays?

Also if applying for very part time do you have set patterns or can you fit the 15 hours around the rest of your life? I know that 60% need to be evenings but that's the only restrictions I can see.

    Many thanks

I have been offered a job as a census collector subject to references, completeing the e-learning etc. They have offered me 2 weeks full time. What I want to know is, if I get a permanent full time job offered to me in the meantime can I pull out of the census collector job? I don't want to turn down a peramanent job for the sake of 2 weeks full time work in April!!

I have just filled out my application form as they are still recruiting in my area. I have done Census collection in the past and I am fully CRB checked so that might be an added bonus. From previous experience I would say only a small percentage of forms come back incomplete - one scumbag let his dog crap all over the form and handed it back to me so I reported him - ugh. 99% of people were lovely - I only got told to F*** off once and that was from a POLICE INSPECTOR :eek::eek: he had been on nightshift and I had woken him (at 4 in the afternoon!!!) Anyway he did apologise next time I called but apart from that it was easy money!!!

I believe that unfortunately yes you have to work during bank holidays... as you're more likely to find the people at home!!! As far as fitting your work with your life, I think it's very do-able especially on very part time... and you should be able to work with your coordinator regarding your hours. Good luck!

I've sent all my paperwork off (a bit late i must add, but i've been rushed off my feet these last few weeks) and they needed me to give other reference info, so i'm still on the waiting game, but might drop them an e-mail tomorrow to see what is happening with it as i've been waiting ages now

    Hi
The man on the phone basically told me I had the job and would get an email within a week and a half to ask for references and to do the e-learning. I also had a telephone interview for a census collector position and they didn't say anything about having the job and said I would hear in about 3 weeks.
