My telephone interview was 20th November and haven't heard anything yet

I had an email a week after my telephone inteview for co-ordinator - it said


""Unfortunately, your application has not been successful at this stage. We do however believe that your application held considerable merit. We anticipate that it is likely that further vacancies will be available in the near future and with your permission would like to keep your application in reserve should a position become available- for example if another candidate withdraws. To enable us to be able to process your application quickly in the event that a role becomes available, it would be appreciated if you could take the time to complete the online training for the role. You will be able to complete the online training (e-learning) via the https://www.censusjobs.co.uk website. We will send you further details of how to complete e-learning in a separate e-mail.

May we also request that you send photocopies of the following ID documentation and a passport sized photograph; so that we may begin your pre-employment checks as quickly as possible should a position become available.""

I thought it was a bit of a cheek - but I have sent off the info. I haven't done the training - they only pay you for it if they offer you a job...and as it is just 3 hours on line training I figured I could fit it in if necessary. I think they are taking the Michael to be honest!

I had a similar response, that's another 3 hrs on top of the earlier tests, personally I considered it exploitative and unprofessional, shame on the government department (ONS) concerned.

I am obviously wrong but I thought that as they are asking you to do the training we would be entitled to minimum wage.:(

Just an update - telephone interview 6th December, recieved email today offering me the job subject to references and training etc. Hope the rest of you did ok?

Yes, I got an email today telling me I'd been successful too. Happy about that. I had my interview 25/11 and was only asked two questions so maybe I got off easy :S

On paper the hourly rate looks good, but for the hours that will realistically be required, it is dismal. Added to that the ridiculous amount of interview stages, total lack of communication skills of interviewers, and the delayed start date of March/ April, the census jobs are just not worth it for a few measly months temp work. I was telephoned interviewed for a regional manager role and received a conditional offer just under 2 weeks later, but even if I hadn't found my current new job, I would not have continued with my application.

Anyone have a telephone number for Capita or some sort of head office? I stupidly input my password incorrectly and my account is frozen!

I have just filled in the online 3 SiftAbility tests

"As part of the application process you are now required to:
- Complete a series of three online scenario-based assessments, known as SiftAbility"

I didn't think I did well on my phone intw but was successful. Just completed the e-assessment ...many steps to go still...As previously mentioned it seems a lot of work for the hourly rate but so far I haven't got anything for those months so better than nothing...just a bit worried of workload and childcare but guess will have to see...Nothing signed yet...:)
