Census Jobs

Hi, just had the telephone interview, they rang a few minutes early.
As another poster said, it is hard to hear them as they're ringing from a call centre.
Just confirmed times and dates that you're available to work, then asked me to talk about when I dealt with customers and worked as part of a team. Was a bit ofputting hearing them type your answer!
The call lasted 4minutes.
Just wait and see how I got on now!!0 -
I went to have my interview on Saturday and got an email today offering me the Cencus Enumerator position! Woo hoo!
Just need to get Disclosure Scotland file and reference and then all sorted!
Good luck to all those who haven't heard yet! x0 -
It seems from the posts that there is some movement with job offers but no one seems to have been waiting as long as me, I applied for census collector and had a telephone interview on 15th NOVEMBER when I was told I would hear within 2-3 weeks - since then I have telephone 3 times to ask what is happening only to be told it is still under consideration and I have received one email in early January apologising for the delay. I think the way I am being treated is disgraceful I have no idea whether I will be offered a job or why there is such a delay, surely if people are suitable they should be told they have work, if I do not get this I will need to find something else. I am semi-retired, on an occupational pension but need to boost my income in order to live. I also would like to make some plans for the Spring but at the moment my life is on hold while I wait to hear. Last time I rang them I asked for a supervisor to ring me back, a week later I am still waiting.
If this is an example of private sector providing jobs for all those redundant public sector workers then it bodes very ill for the future (but then I already knew that)!
This has all gone on so long now I am considering telling them to stuff the job.
BTW the interview is a matter of saying Yes to everything they ask which I did and I ahve over 30 years experience of working with the public and in teams so cannot see how they can't offer me a job!0 -
Hi Lambourne I haven't been waiting as long you have, but I phoned them today as I have been waiting just over 6wks.
They told me that they hadn't made a decision yet, I asked why this was and they said that they had to move the deadline for the area where I applied. He said that census has to reach a certain about of applications in each area before making a final decision and they hadn't reached their target number for the area where I applied.
Sounds like they are just stalling till someone better comes along.0 -
I can't believe how long some people have been waiting, it doesn't sound very well organised.
I emailed them, and they replied yesterday saying the deadline had now passed so I should hear of a decision shortly.0 -
I applied during the first week of November and had my 2 minute telephone interview which consisted of just saying 'yes' to each question on the 23rd November. I have now received three e-mails advising me they are still processing applications. Upon contacting them they stated the telephone interview should last 15 minutes!!!
All seems very unorganised especially when they are employing people to enter private homes and retrieve personal information. Worrying!!0 -
I had mine back in November too and still waiting to hear anything! Its a complete joke!
Nothing surprises me though. Capita have the contact (the worse company ever!!)0 -
I have just received this email:
Thank you for completing your interview for the role of Census Collector.
We are still assessing interview results from all candidates. We will contact you again regarding the outcome of your application within the next two to three weeks.
In the meantime, we appreciate your patience.
Kind regards

They said it would be 2-3 weeks in November!0 -
I just got that email to.
If it was any normal jobs I would have given up months ago and assumed I wasn't successful!0 -
I think particularly in quieter areas, they are waiting to get as many applications as possible (probably to fill quotas/targets!) before making offers.
I think closing date for applications is 7th so I'm sure everyone should hear around that date.
After seeing this thread, I applied for a very part time census collector position on Monday, did the online test on Tuesday and have a phone interview tomorrow night.
Does seem a bit unfair on you guys who applied ages ago though!!0
