...thought I might just be capable of collecting the census:rotfl:Guess I was wrong!

My thoughts exactly. I did only put down for the minimum 15 hours, wonder if that was the problem - Any more than this would have entailed childcare issues.

For the record, I've decided not to take it any further. No point in wasting any more good hours when I'm clearly not good enough.:D
Beginning to feel as though I am being left on the employment shelf.

I have been left feeling somewhat grubby by the whole experience. I'm considering writing to my MP. Not that that will do much good.

Wrote about the changes to child benefit and the letter I received back did nothing to address my points and just re-iterated the new rules - don't know why I expected anything else really.:rotfl:

I asked for 37 hours starting on the 21st. March to max the income from this. I would love to know how crapita have ranked the applications on merit without a CV. My niece who applied for the same area as myself in the January, got 25 hours. Bless her, but she hasn't got the same experience or qualifications as myself but I guess she's got the work and I haven't :o. I agree with you about being grubby and feeling somewhat rather down with all this.
I'm not doing the e-learning now and I'll tell Crapita where they can stick the Census:rotfl:

I would also like to know how CAPITA selected without CV's and given the basic interview by a rather uninterested interviewer it's anyone's guess. I intend not sending my form back so that a collector can call at my house!

I received my census form today and completed it on-line. Those recruited will be chasing up the more recalcitrant. Good luck with that. ;)

    Did you read it? ;)

You're not meant to do it until the 27th(if I recall correctly) :D

I applied for a role and after being messed about so much I decided to take my revenge by letting my children fill the census in online with whatever they wished to put!
  • What a shambles!!!

I don't think Capita could organise a garden fete, let alone a national census!!

    Ok guys:

Working hours, yes your coordinator will be setting your workloads BUT you will be contracted for xx hours per week and the coordinator CANNOT allocate over this some collectors will be employed on 15/25/37 hours depending on what you put when you applied, the workload likely in a given area etc this will then determine how many collectors a coordinator gets so if all of them put they want 15 hours per week then more collectors will be allocated and vice versa...

Recruitment has been a little ahem in places but when you're looking at the biggest mobilisation of staff outside of wartime I think you'll find there will always be some hitches, that's not to say those that have been affected shouldn't feel agrieved and disappointed but it needs to be seen in some kind of context.

Correction, Capita are not running the census they are providing logistics, HR, Payroll etc ONS are running census and there are a slew of other companies providing support, data processing etc

as for not seeing CVs what do you think the siftability questions were for it's basic profiling that's how they decide, also the reason that some are being put on hold is they have to keep some people in "reserve" in case people drop out and there have been a number already - not nice to be in that situation but that's the score unfortunately.

As for returning online early, if you fill it in online and at the end hit save and come back later it stores your return and says it will automatically submit it if you don't on the 27th so it's the best of both worlds you fill it in early but can go back and change it if neccesary and if you forget it still goes in.

Your post has got me thinking - do you think that there is an age thing going on here?

I'm guessing that you were one of the lucky ones.:D
