I should have said that they were a lovely couple, and the bride looked absolutely stunning in a cream dress. Talk about a washboard stomach! She out-Pippa'd Pippa!
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Well, no, not really. The wedding finished at 5PM, and by 5.15 we were back in the car and heading on to the next do. So, we just had time for a glass of mineral water at the reception, thanked our hosts, and we were off.

You want to hear about the next do?

there is a post from Rhiwfield, another MSE chum, about pv panels which I think you'll find brilliant and hopefully useful.

Thanks for that lir. It's all looking very promising. I have a roof that faces pretty much due south at 30 degrees pitch with no shade - ideal really. Just waiting for one more quote before making a decision.

No weddings for me this weekend, but I did go to an ordination today. I was really impressed by the Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham. He's cool. Well, actually he was warm and human and welcoming, and occasionally amusing in an appropriate sort of way.

Enjoyed watching the choir too - I used to sing in one of the Oxford chapel choirs when I was a student, so it was fun to be sitting just "upstream" of the choir and able to watch the guy conducting. I liked the way he smiled and nodded at them all every time they got to the end of something. I always like it when people are encouraging. But can anybody explain what it is about countertenors? The one I could see was just like others I've come across and raised his eyebrows every time he opened his mouth to sing. I wanted to look at the other one to see if he was doing it too, but the curvature of the choir stalls meant that I couldn't see his face.

Anyway, the person I went to support duly got ordained, which is exciting. I'm not sure her new church is going to know what's hit it, though. She's lovely, but she's a whirlwind for getting stuff done, she's not afraid to speak her mind (politely), and most things she gets involved with are never quite the same again as a result. :D

Nice lunch back at her sending church afterwards - pity I had to leave before the pudding to get back home, but the person who was looking after my kids for the day was booked up for the evening and needed me to get back on time to pick them up.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

It's not so bad at the front of the plane with the other bankers and lawyers tho, is it...

Unfortunately with the Generali finances being as they are, I turned right and kept going. I never realised that planes went back that far!

It's nice having Aussie dollars in the UK at the moment. For the first time in my life, the airport seemed to have reasonable prices! $6 for a coffee and 2 hot chocolates was a bargain. I pay $5 for a hot chocolate in Sydney.

Welcome home Generali. Sorry Mrs G couldn't join you but I hope you and the gerneralissimi have a wonderful time. Your mother must be delighted to see you...bit rough setting you to work straight away, but I bet she's impressed with your imrpoved gardening skills.

dog-dog and I are back to the vets today. second of eight dressing changes. she and big dog are delighted with dh's pool, which they think is a HUGE drinking bucket, closer than the troughs in the farmyard, more exciting than the bucket I leave by the back door for them. I think its going to be too hot for me in the garden to day. Instead I've chosen the exciting option of wrapping my bathroom taps in vinegared cotton wool in an attempt to get more of the limescale of. Yuck.

LIR, can be worth taking the taps off, and soaking them in vinegar? Quicker and less hassle.

She is pleased. I was mostly doing it to keep myself awake. It worked too as I'm mostly over the jet lag in a day although I woke up at 5.30am.

Viacal is amazing for removing limescale. Forget using anything else. It just fizzes off. If you get going with it after lunch you'll have your feet up in the garden with a Pimms before you know it!

Going to visit folks for a few days. Choosing between driving 155 miles each way alone or letting the train take the strain. Train means train and tube into Paddington which is a PITA.

No contest - gotta be the train. Get a decent book & some tunes on the go.:)
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.
