Quite a scary afternoon here.....massive thunderstorm just as school pick up time arrived, on the way to the school, I am going along the road when there was an enormous thunder clap (enough to set car alarms off and make me and what felt like the car, jump) and several flashes, so close they felt like they were hitting the car......and then the house about 50 ft away burst into flames, the lightening had scored a direct hit on it.
That house has been destroyed, entire roof has gone, first floor completely burnt out and they had been battling hard to save the one next to it.
Then there was a lull for a little while (although thunder could still be heard) until another big storm, this time with even more torrential rain that the first, arrived as we were driving home from my parents house...so many flooded roads here.
One good thing, temp has decreased by 2 degrees in my bedroom. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Oooh Sue... I'd have peed myself!!0

I very nearly did!
Apparently I was a tad white faced when I arrived at the school.....and when that lightening had hit, it had appeared as if it was hitting right outside the school (according to all 3 boys), so much so that the majority of the girls were screaming for a few mins afterwards. We made it! Don't think I've ever been this stressed in my life.
Get kicked out of my flat in the next few days, and it's kind of assumed that I'll be able to live with some friends, but I don't have permission from their landlady and she's on holiday. So I'm going to have to try to move some stuff in on the quiet as my place needs to be emptied. But, I need to work tomorrow morning and I have a driving lesson in the afternoon, which I think I'll have to cancel.
Plus, I've been telling my boss from one of my jobs that I'll live with him. It's ok because I get along with him really well. But, he's basically an alcoholic and it turns out it'd actually be quite a dodgy arrangement involving subletting, and I wouldn't want to be associated with the house anyway because they've already had utilities cut off! So need to break the news to him in as diplomatic a way as possible, but feel bad for messing him around.
It's all going to pot!“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

In a week's time, not sure what to do about it at all.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
firstly, don't panic.
Is it likely you will be allowed to move in? Will there be issues of overcrowding or unsuitability?
I'd tactfully tell boss you are needed elsewhere...ill friend or somrething? Then once out of your place also keep ear/eye open for somewhere else as a back up, it will at least give you reassurance if you have options.0 -

Yeah there's no reason why not. I have a mate staying there the whole time who lives there permanently, so really I'd just be staying with him, if anything!
From what they've all said she's very easy going, so I think I'm worrying over nothing really.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

still, best to be cautious til you know.
If you are worried, and possibly out of courtesy, what about putting your stuff, bar a bag of essentials for the week, in to self store?0
