Have had a friend lecturing me on not seeing any of the "classics" which they describe cinematically. So, during scoffies at the weekend, with nothing on tv as it is all carp, I relented and watched a couple of their "classics".
First up, Alfred Hitchcocks Rope. Now the only Hitchcock I've ever seen is Psycho. I'll admit out the 10 or so to pick from, it was the shortest!:o Wasn't too bad though. Interesting storyline.
Second, was White Heat, with (googles) James Cagney (I have previously seen Angels With Dirty Faces). Better film imo. Hey ma! Top of the world!
Friend didn't like all my questions at the end of the film though...:oIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

PN, I know you feel it's not right as a child; this is the natural sequence of events. Would you be able to speak to the GP/Specialist yourself to know what to expect (indeed whether pain is to be expected and accepted) and where you might need to intervene?
I think the way to get this dealt with straight away is to call an ambulance, and I think it should be dealt with straight away. Either that, or load dad and mum into the car and drive them to A&E. They may not want to go in the car, but they are unlikely to resist the blandishments of the ambulance crew. At the very least, it takes some of the responsibility off PN's shoulders. She should first offer to take the parents to A&E, and see what they say. But if they refuse to go with her, she should just dial 999 straight away.
The alternatives, I guess are:
1. Ring the GP's surgery and speak to a doctor, not receptionist. Explain the situation and ask what to do.
2. Ring NHSDirect, and ask what to do.
They are pretty much bound to suggest dialling 999, as GPs don't tend to do house calls these days, but it may help PN to shift the burden a bit. Sure, it's being a tiny bit of a nuisance for the health professionals, but it's certainly appropriate to act straight away, and this situation should not be left IMHO.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I'm not a very good stalker really.
People say it's about personal care needs, which to me means "do you wipe his 4rse?"... and the answer to that'd be "NO!"
I wouldn't want/don't need the CA - and I wouldn't qualify (isn't it income-based?)
Forms are allegedly on their way, for whatever the nurse ordered forms for. She said she'd get forms sent just 3 days ago.
Illness is advanced incurable renal "C"
People have a narrow view of care needs. If I lived at the other end of the country from a relative I had to telephone 4-5 times a day to make sure they have taken their medication, I'd be providing a care need.
Your last sentence pretty much guarantees he'd qualify. If the consultant reckons he has 6 months or less, under the "special rules" (nice name there) then he'd get the high rate straight away.
PS I've worked in advice agencies for 14 years.:)

You said he's moaning in pain, for goodness sake! Of course that's what the ambulance service is for - unless you can take him in your car. Will he come with you?
For goodness sake, M A K E A F U S S !!!
I certainly would if a member of my family were in pain like this. I wouldn't hesitate for one second. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
It seems I was wrong, it wasn't the squits, it was the opposite... and now it's all cleared (TMI!! I don't want to be having these conversations!). And today it's 10 sachets of movacol, GP's phoned this morning as he called him to ask for advice.
Sharing the gruesome stuff with the nice people... I'd rather read about dog dog0 -
drive them to A&E.
The car parks at the Hospital are badly placed, there's a lot of walking to get to the buildings - then lots of walking round the buildings. The Hospital's not for people with limited mobility at all.
Anyway .... they're both alive this morning. And 'better' than yesterday. but we're all kn4ckered as there was a lot of to'ing/fro'ing through the night
I guess I should make sure my car's always got fuel in it from now on.... as there's no 24 hour petrol station (or any after about 9-10pm). Nearest would be 15 miles maybe.... but if I assumed that and got there, it might not be open either0 -
Get well soon, dog-dog!0
