Good on you Doozer. 40's no age at all to complete. If I were filling in the forms now, it'd be to start when? 2012.... finish 2015? That's nearly retirement age, so no point.
Picking a subject must be so hard. It's all confusing..... and you've no idea if you've picked a good 'un until it's too late really have you
I did go to the College last year to ask "should I do a degree?" and they said "No ... can you come and talk to our students on degrees as a guest speaker?". And I asked NextStep and they said "No ... just leave the county and get a job".
So I have tried... I just always get knocked back. And without a burning desire to study something specific, without knowing if it'd be good/bad, added to the fear of having to move somewhere that's probably horrid (and full of students)... it'll now never happen.0 -

I'm sorry for the home situation. Have you looked at the MacMillan link, did anyone offer anything along those lines? I've only heard good things about MacMillan nurses. Just because he is old, doesn't mean that he isn't entitled to proper care and support. Ditto everyone else in the house.
You're right, it is hard to choose and I've been similarly scared of getting it wrong (and of being knocked back). If I asked someone if I should do it, I think I'd get mixed answers too. That isn't being knocked back, you need to tell people you want to do it. They seem to be pretty receptive. It's whether you want to and whether it will genuinely add value. It will be nice for me to see people a bit more!
If I am very quick, 2011 is a possibility. I must not stress about it though, years seem to pass so quickly...Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

So ... there are appointments for "C" and he goes and comes back. Nothing's said.
If I/we're not involved, it's hard to know what to say. Especially as he and I are speshul and the other one's selfish
I've tried to get the selfish one to go along too .... and I always get knocked back on that. But it's inappropriate for me to attend with the patient as what goes on with private bodily functions and parts isn't for a child to hear.Doozergirl wrote: »If I am very quick, 2011 is a possibility. As I understand it, there's a huge rush to get in this year, something like 3x as many applications as seats. So I figure I'd not apply, even if I knew what I wanted to do, as I'd not get in ... not that I know what I'd do anyway. Well, I kind of do - but to get into that you need previous experience/a portfolio of stuff ... and be able to show your portfolio and be all enthusiastic.... I have no portfolioI did try to ask about this course and was sniffed at .... as I'd not actually done anything before like it - and I'd be competing with 6th formers etc who had done stuff for 2+ years ... and had portfolios

It was all free at my secondary school - so at different times I did debating, politics society, trampolining, netball, and orchestra / choir. Enjoyed them all, too!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

The London one, I think?
I also boarded for a couple of years in Buckinghamshire, which I loathed.
Very best of luck with Uni....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
PN it sounds absolutely rotten for you. <hugs>...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

I cook rice in loads of water then strain and rinse with more boiling water from the kettle when it is cooked - any one else do it this way?
Me too. I use easy cook rice, as supposedly its harder to overcook it.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Today I've been worried and trying to get the other half of the pair to check he's OK, "have you offered him a drink?" "have you offered him food?" ... but the other one's gone into selfish mode and says "He comes down, he can get stuff, or ask us".
Had to teach her how to operate the TV today, he always does it (his TV, his remote, his choice). Now she's decided she doesn't want to sleep in the same room as him moaning.... so I made up the spare bedroom and got told off - she says she'll kip on the sofa.
Popped down and she's sitting flicking round the channels. And he's not dead as the bathroom's in use again
I'm all lost and no idea what to say/do. It's still the big "can't ask/won't get an answer" going on.
Sounds like you want and need to take a step back but no one is filling the void.
Could you make a telephone appointment with the doctor? I was once on jury service with a bunch of people who were desperate to reach a verdict so they could go home and watch Corrie. I was the contrary b1tch that made them go through all the evidence. NDG you'll know better than me, but is such behaviour and lack of respect for the duty commonplace?
Agree wholeheartedly with this. My experience was on a coroners jury. Some dipstick foreman who was probably taking time off resitting a levels who wouldn't say boo to a goose had to have it pointed out to him by me that he should not presume to speak for me.
It also had to be pointed out to people on the jury that this was not an inconvenience to us, a man had died... The inconvenience was to his family. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
