I'm done. I could do with some cream closer to the day. My pigs were wrapped in blankets and frozen a while ago...waitrose whoopsies on a lucky day..I saw the nice sausages and the nice bacon both reduced and thought that it would be a job done. I haven't been able to find fresh button sprouts in recent years, and like them little for christmas, so bought frozen ones. I'm stunned at this laid back pre-prepared and freezer involved calmness, but I like it. it will be even easier than a normal roast lunch which I always think is about as easy as it gets.0 -

Wageslave can't be at fault though because she didn't know. However she has had to give up some of her shoes as penance. For us there is no such thing as old shoes because we have so many pairs, only new ones that have been gently worn:o.
Is that a fair round-up ws?
Thats it in one, sort of.
My cousin never mentioned one of them wasn't a family girl.
That would be the family girl that is now heartbroken as he has run off with Farmer Giles daughter.
My cousin is a !!!!!!(love that word). She was sent round to sort me out because I had let the family down. Which I accept I had.
I just said no at shoe boot time
I am totally ashamed. The minute I heard my girls asking what we were doing, I let go of her hair.
I will get her backRetail is the only therapy that works0 -

Mum's just ga-ga.
Sister's all about getting expensive gifts.
Nobody comes round, we go nowhere.
There's no "joy", no jollity.
It's like an endurance test... and all the time I imagine in my head a perfect Xmas if only I were in charge of it and it were at my house.
Xmas: love the idea, it never happens like that.0 -
OH has gone to get son from the train station. Not even sure which route he took, I think the roads are clearer than they were earlier.
I seem to have spent the day on the phone. First arguing the odds with Virgin trains on whether a ticket bought for one train can be used on another, given that they cancelled the booked train. Eventually the answer appeared to be that it can be used on any train departing within an hour of the booked train. Not ideal as I would have preferred an earlier train in case the problems got worse. Then son is phoning trying to decide which train to get; then he is on a train that is making an unscheduled stop so he can't decide where to change trains. Anyway, very much later than planned he should be home shortly.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I took a train to Watford yesterday and they accepted Virgin tickets on London Midland. It reminds me of a lot of people I don't associate with any more in fact.
No it is anything like that
I see entirely where they are coming from
We dont, any of us, do outside our own class
It might not be politically correct, it certainly isn't what we want to admit
It is however the truth
LIR, define happiness with a partner?
Similar hopes, dreams which is similar class.

similar hopes and dreams...yes, for most...but how much...I mean I know people with very different political ideologies for example, who still just click. Similar sense of humour, yes, for some similar interests, for others very opposite interests that give them time apart,. Class nope...and really....maybe that causes some of the disillusionment and sadness in relationships.
Even so, what makes him and her different class...farmer..landowner? your mum and family..landowner right? economically similar? Socio part is too complicated now, and only remnants hang on....is it hard for some people yes....I think dh's dad was horrified...but....tough. :)Mine had done it themselves,so didn't consider it a factor so much. Its only in old age and in their own embitteredness they have become classist, and that's not the war, just the weapon for them.
I think your cousin is a coward to drop you in it but I wish him and farmer's daughter happiness.0 -
Women are from Venus, Men are from Mars.
It's strange, the forums women want to talk of issues and feelings while men want to find /suggest solutions. I for instance, want to shout 'you should have hid your best shoes' (ws) or 'get a new guy who'll make your ex aware of his parental responsibilities' (ss), but I refrain (unsuccessfully it seems).
Finally received some post today. We've unexpectantly received cards from people we hadn't sent to. Night time, little one in bed, and cards wrote, I've just returned the 3 mile round trip to the nearest post box. Not another person in sight. Could have posted in the morning, but I fully expect to be working from home.
On the subject of snow boots, has anyone recommendations. My wellies aren't up to it. Alterntively, if ws wants to send some size 10 snow boots to the south, it'd be very appreciated.0 -
