I need a new system boiler - do I need 30 or 35KW? Is Vaillant really the only brand to go for? How can I know whether rerunning the mains supply pipe from the boundary will give me enough pressure and volume to go with a megaflow type pressurised system? House on completion will be about 200sqm with 4 bath/shower rooms.

    1. Ask on the uk.d-i-y newsgroup. Very, very knowledgeable folk there.
    2. Worcester-Bosch is the other premium make.
    3. We re-plumbed our house onto mains only water when we refurbed in 1998. (Also 4 baths/showers and with a huge megaflo for hot water.) We planned a new 22mm mains, but it stayed at 15mm for ages before the new mains pipe was implemented. I have noticed no difference in water pressure since we upgraded to the 22mm mains. We now pay a higher standing charge for the larger connection and have no benefit.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

When I went to vote last night, it was the first time in my life I have had to queue at a polling station. I was amazed.

The delights of postal voting I have not set foot in a polling station for years. :)

Mind you were I live a queue is classed as waiting behind one person.

Never heard of Newteam. Unless you are quite careful, the wiring won't match up. For example, the old one had its wiring connector at the top, say, and the new one will be at the bottom.

Are you planning to fit this yourself, even though it's probably illegal for you to do so? Also, will you be fitting one of those natty circuit breakers that saves your life?

    Thanks GDB2222
The current setup is similar to this picture

    Consumer_unit_Dual_RCD_split_load_board.JPG

but with a 50A (i think - not at home now) CB for the shower unit.
With a double pole switch in a hallway cupboard, 10mm cable.

Why would it be illegal if I'm just replacing the shower unit?

Got this from the wickes site:
All electrical works MUST conform to
BS767 the current IEE Wiring Regulations
and Part P of Building Regulations. You are
advised to check with your local authority’s
    Building Control Department, or an
    Authorised Competent Person
    before starting.
A direct replacement, without a wiring
    change,
need not be notified to your local
    Building Control Department.
