I have to water everything in the garden.
AGAIN. I don't normally water anything until they look like they are about to drop dead but the bedding plants planted out on saturday have all flopped over and the peas are looking sorry for themselves and the courgettes that have survived the cold also need some water.
But i'm too tired from coming home from work to do it0 -
I have taken to gardening in the last few months, but only in a small way. I really enjoy going round with a watering can. My pansies are fabulous - bought a tray of small ones for £2.50 at Homebase. Sun flowers have all sprouted and are about 3 - 4 inches high. Planted two in the bed in front of the house - rest still in pots as reserves. My sweet peas are now about 2-3 inches high.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Beginning to think I've been conned by my dashboard calculator showing 58mpg. Of course, needles are never perfect - and often I've found that the second half of a tank goes further than the first, but I've done about 230 miles so far and the needle's between 4/8ths and 5/8ths. So, have to see over 2-3 tankfuls how it works out. But if I assume 3/8ths have gone and I've done 210 miles, that's 70 miles to 1/8th, or 560 miles. Tank holds 60 litres. That'd make it more like 42mpg.
But, as I said, can't really tell yet.... it's annoying that [a] the dashboard might be wrong it'll take 2-3 months to do it accurately.
If I can squeeze 750 miles out of this tank it'd be 'about right'0 -
Whenever I fill my Car the dash computer always say's I have 720-730 miles left. That sometimes goes up to 800 ish if I go straight onto the M5 and poodle along at 70mph.
In the end the red light always comes on after I've done 550 miles and I have to fill up again.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
We got some of those a couple of years ago....the results were not as good as the pictures, think only a couple looked really rude whilst the others looked plain weird. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Imagine my horror when turning on Italian tv to hear not just that Barrack Obama had killed thousands of people but he had also been shot. Having heard Osama had been got before leaving I was stunned at the day's destruction/double whammy. I though Obama had lost it and gone crazy with relief/power/whatever.
I hear Merkel's spokesman got it wrong in the same way too.
I'm back, had a bit of a health scare, the ruddy witnesses didn't turn up in court so, acording to Italian law, they get another chance then fnally a third chance with ''a police export'' for company. You know, it would have been much cheaper to forgo the deposit on that flat and the contracts for the house hold bills etc.0 -
MPG in automatics? No clutch to disengage.
I have 3 modes, sport, normal and eco.
Unscientific experiment assuming I do roughly the same local journeys in terms of petrol consumption and comparing MPG over a whole tank load of petrol, I get better MPG in eco mode than normal, dunno how or why. I know I do far more heavy traffic and local journeys than the average, so eco mode must save more on the speedy journeys.
I presume it changes the change up limit, so it changes up earlier in the rev range.
Only other thing I can think is it lowers throttle response but I would go for earlier changing.0 -
misskool, withyou on finding some of the coverage over the dispatch of Bin Ladin dispiriting. whatever ''we'' in the west thought of him...we will not win the foavour of people who feel differently by gloating, so even those who don't find it distasteful could better consider tactics.0

I can't answer that one. But have had the same things on many cars.
Renault, Alfa and Vovlo all did this.
Honda is the only recent car that has not.
My best guess is the fuel level sensor + ECU does not take in to account the shape of the tank, (It measures as if were a uniform shape).
So if the top of the tank is narrower than the bottom the ECU over estimates the fuel in the tank at the start (like most of my previous cars)
The honda (civic) has a virtually rectangular tank, I presume that is why it is able to measure virtually correctly.
Either that or they are better at programing ECU calculations.0 -
Right...the car stuffhysics is beyond me, but I saw an interesting short thing on BBC world about phones and why Androids might be or susceptible to being hacked/security risks for users than /...for example....iPhone. Also why tablets and phones will be increasingy targeted. I don't know of BBC world use iPlayer, but would be interesting and on topic discussion for the board. Some of you seem to know lots about it. Now my phone won't even turn on I was thinking about a clever phone...e.g. to keep in touch while I'm away (email much easy with clients). As I rarely leave and after this time want to leave even less it might be overkill though.
After feeling dissatisfied with the three books I took I think maybe misskool is right and I should consider a kindle at least for travelling. Not sure how I feel about that. I need to try one, see if I can stand it as a partial contribution to my ''library''.0
