Rain is currently forecast for the weekend folks. Good for the garden & bowling greens.

Does anyone think I'm being premature in wondering why I appear to have no shoots coming through for the carrots & beetroot I planted? I planted them just over 2 weeks ago now. I hear that onions are relatively quick growers, so is it just me being silly/confused by their speedy growth?

I'd be expecting them about now, I think. You are watering?

My onions are pricked out in wide pots, but I've always done sets before so not sure what to expect there really. I sowed 'em indoors, well over a month ago. No beetroot or carrots in the ground yet:- mainly lack of time, and the fly will have the latter anyway! :(

Mine only goes up to 5th too...

So does mine, but it doesn't stop me looking for another one.:o

I blame the time when I had an accident loan car with 6, but it could just be me thinking: 'This bloody thing ought to go go faster than this!' :rotfl:

Has the top where you sowed the seeds dried out so they wouldn't germinate?

It's very dry so if nothing germinates, a drop of water and a cover to keep humidity in would help. Also been cold at night so the temperatures aren't enough yet?

Been watering every day/other day, so I'd hope the ground is damp enough for them. It is probably me. Every year I plant tomato seeds & then hover daily with a panic that nothing is happening, then finally give up, then return 2 days later to find a 98% success/sprout rate!:o I'll keep on the watering & tending etc & keep hoping.

I planted lines of carrots & onions together in the hope that the onion smell will keep away the carrotfly!

    Thanks folks!:)

Nah, if he wanted to do that, there's more promising material than carrots :) :

I don't agree with what he did, I don't like what he represents but what I really hate right now is the fact that people are celebrating that someone has been killed

I've been sent another joke, that is funny, plays on stereotypes etc, but could be argued (very badly imo) to be racist.

I've been debating putting it up here all morning.

Personally I don't think it is. I accept however that I may not be the best judge of that. I'm wondering whether or not to post it...
