It wasn't really a hill, more a gentle incline, and I was doing less than 10mph, in 2nd gear, when I came round the corner and saw the cars in front of me stopping for the queue. So I should change up to 3rd at that point?? Wouldn't it stall?

That kind of gets past the point the rolling in gear (as you are saying rolling in gear is not an option) factor is when holding speed. 10MPH is virtually stopping speed.
If you knew the lights were there and doing say 30mph (as I presume at 10MPH you had already been breaking knocking off your kinetic energy from weight and the flywheel) you would have been better off rolling in gear.

It can be very car dependent,
I have a diesel and the torque means idle has a enough power to move without stalling.

Other point is on aircon, you can use that in gear rolling and use no fuel (if you want to be very MSE)

All these attacks by drones are extra-judicial killings, too, often with many civilian casualties. The US say it's justified because they are fighting a war, I guess, rather than hunting down criminals. I'm convinced that the policy is both morally wrong and counter-productive, as it is helping terrorist groups to recruit.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I tend to freewheel at 50-70mph, I'm sure I can maintain the speed for longer and go faster freewheeling in neutral. Having the car in gear, even 5th, would slow it down.

It is very car dependent I go down hills in 6th at 50-60mph and usually still building up speed
I have a 2 Metric ton car fully loaded (fuel only) and average about 37mpg - 42mpg.

So if your car is engine breaking in 5th it suggests it is fairly light and fairly low geared.

It won't work for everyone, but it is a fact in modern cars freewheeling in gear burns no fuel.

Jack the Ripper - rather you than me!

    Do you read fiction too?

An, erm... "interest" I picked up a few years ago.:o

I realised a short time ago that I don't read as much fiction as I ought. I recently read Coma by Alex Garland, The Dead Zone by Stephen King, and About a Boy and also Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby. Coma was good fun, and a very interesting idea. The Dead Zone was better than I expected to be fair (haven't read SK for years). About a Boy was very funny, but Fever Pitch was disappointing.

I read Atonement a year ago and was very "meh" about it.

Perhaps I'm picking the wrong fiction books?:o

Now you see, that has never worked for me....my brain works differently to most others. During my O levels, I kind of worked out I needed a last day burst of info to settle my brain and stop the information tumbling around.

I did the same today after posting and it worked, my brain was much more settled...so settled that I filled the entire work book with writing, all 16 A4 pages!

Fingers crossed I have passed now but I still feel I am doing the wrong course.....I want to get into the minds of criminals, not know the workings behind law and as the courses go on, this fact becomes more apparent to me, so there may well be a change of direction in order.

I remember my uni exams. I had a friend who would help me revise. One sunday, absolutely nothing seemed to be sticking, & I was really struggling. We gave up revising (& watched football on telly). He made a throwaway comment about when he went into exams, he always used to take his shoes off, to try to get as comfortable as possible.

Next day, went into the 2pm exam in the baking sports hall. Walked in, felt very hot. Sat down, & whilst feeling the discomfort of the heat/lack of air circulation heard my mates voice in my head saying "when I go into an exam I always take my shoes off to try to be as comfortable as possible". So I thought I'd try it.

Thing is, that recollection brought back everything we'd talked about the day before. All the revision bits were fresh, purely because they were anchored onto that comment he made, & my chance thinking about it!

I got the best grade in that exam out of all my university exams.:)

No idea, gonna try to look it up.

Rain is currently forecast for the weekend folks. Good for the garden & bowling greens.

Does anyone think I'm being premature in wondering why I appear to have no shoots coming through for the carrots & beetroot I planted? I planted them just over 2 weeks ago now. I hear that onions are relatively quick growers, so is it just me being silly/confused by their speedy growth?

My jammiest result was in chemistry, I was and still am hopeless at chemistry and had pleaded with my teacher to let me drop it but I managed to score over 50% in the mock exam, so he wouldn't let me.

Anyway, come exam day, we are standing outside the hall waiting to go in and someone had a revision book, I asked to have a look at it and stood there reading it and taking the pee out of it.....just so happened the entire exam was all about the bits I was taking the pee out of and with my (at the time) short term photographic memory, I could just see in my mind the pages of the book.

I got a good O level out of that....but I still don't know the first thing about chemistry.

My exam yesterday was a more positive affair than the one I had in October as I have been granted a home exam facility (although I had it at my parents house as it is more suitable). It was so much more relaxed, I had extra time for breaks, which meant that there was no getting completely uncomfortable and having pain draining my concentration.

Now feel a bit lost to be honest as I have this small break in study.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
