I'm v. excited for FC. I'm sure they'll love you. When you get interviewed, by the way, in the sunday supplements about your influence and ''meteoric'' rise to the top of the fashion chain I hope you mention your online cheering squad....most of who are not your target customers but just think you are great anyway!

I was about to say that I too have bought clothes from Sainsburys but somehow even I can't imagine that FC would be getting excited about 'TU'...

There is some stuff here on the Wildfire but it appears not that many posts so there may be other sites that have more on this handset:

No - it would be less including travelling time. If you earn not that much and have 3 kids then with tax at 20%, NI at 12% and tax credits withdrawn at 41% effective tax rate is 73% (so £8 ph equates to £2) - and it is only that low because I earn too much and have too much savings to qualify for housing benefit, council tax benefit and free school meals and prescriptions which could push the rate in to the 90s percent.

And yet those on 150k complain that a marginal rate of 52% is a disincentive...

It is a bit of a disincentive, just less of a disincentive than that.

which is odd. (and the inclusion of how many kids etc is part of what I don't like about the credit systems, with in the same earnings having kids/where you live what you save/spend etc should be a personal choice with personal consequences IMO)

The awkward 60% bit, with no salary sacrifice to pension possible is also a disincentive, even the headline tax figure, but less than not having a job that pays well at all. Or a job.

Not sure I'd be diversifying into white goods just now, mind, but it's her choice. :)

    Found my passport. :)

Next problem. My weekend bag has a tear in it. Duct tape? Or is that just too tight by far? I don't want to buy a new one. I have an oversized handbag I'm toying with taking instead, but it means dressing in all my clothes layered up like a tramp to get on the plane and choosing which shoes I'll wear in advance and only taking two pairs.

Last time I flew they weren't letting people take a carrier bag of airside stuff on....is this normal now? (I wanted to buy some books for the flight, but if its the hand bag, this will cause immense problems)

Doozer, you need to read this book:

It talks a lot about why we procrastinate, & leave certain tasks right to the last minute. It is a truly great book.

LIR - duct tape is fine imo. Bags just get thrown around by handlers don't they?

    fc123 - all the best!

For those who are interested, I did end up going to the beach. Barmouth. Interesting little place. The train station is right on the promenade! You can walk off the train onto the beach! Huge beach it is too. Sea was very cold. but very picturesque - looking around you have beach, sand dunes, the sea, mountains and coastline.

michaels, I was annoyed by the non-consideration of travel time and expenses with the census thing too. I have to be honest, my experience hasn't been great (with respect to the selection and support given) of the whole census project. Thats a whole other thread to be honest. I finish a week on friday, & to be honest, I can't wait!
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

People take very large bags on, your weekend may even be small enough to carry on; if you can cope with the restrictions on liquids.

Generally its a one bag only on board rule, so the handbag goes inside the carrier till you are passed the boarding gate.

yeah, mine is for carry on...we sometimes use hold on the way back, but on hese short overnight trips on the way out its too much of a pain to wait for baggage handlers at the other end. Plus the bus/train you want always comes while you wait then the next is always delayed. Its the rule.

The thing I'm not sure about though is airside purchases. They used to allow a carrier of airside stuff, last time not, so is that now part of the one bag rule?

missk, practically I know you are right....but for me it has to be paper...I just love books.

It has to be books for me too......easier and less panic mode than taking an expensive electronic device. It doesn't matter so much if I spill some tea on a book, it would be ultra expensive to do the same with a Kindle.

Plus, reading electronic print for too long gives me a headache.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
