Sorry to hear this. I hope the school is dealing with it appropriately.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I give up; can't find my passport and really I'm a bit too tired to care. I'll stay home, he can go alone.

Inbetween being frustrated about him movng my passport today I've been trying to gee him up about the car. I adore him but sometimes he's so calm he's phlegmatic. And of course, he thinks me getting peeved about it is just mildly amusing and rather ''sweet'' which makes me more cross!

Still, despite today's moaning he is wonderful, and has got loads done. Today we fulfilled our last...we hope...contractual obligation for the purchase of the house. :)

Did my census interviewer training today, bit of a laugh then at the end they announced I would start at the beginning rather than being on standby...and then that I would be working 2 areas 10+ miles away and it is only possible to claim expenses when you reach your work area. As the pay works out at £2 ph the thought of spending £5 on petrol for each 3-4 hour shift doesn't make much sense to me...
    I think....

How can the pay be below NMW or are you including travelling time in that?

I got a job with a College down here a few years back. I had to come up with a course idea, then write the course. They'd shove it in their booklet. On the date/s I'd have to go to them and collect a whole network of laptops, then drive onto some small village hall and set it all up. Then I'd wait. If nobody came after an hour I'd have to pack up all the kit and take it home, returning it to the College the next day. Total pay/expenses for that: £7. To get to that stage will have been 3-5 hours writing/planning the course, an hour driving/collecting the kit, an hour waiting, an hour to dismantle the kit and get home and an hour the next day to take the kit back.

Not to mention the fact that having the booking in my diary limited my ability to take on other work that day.

Stopped doing it. It was a mug's game.

Sorry to be entirely random but I'm procrastinating STILL. I can make major life decisions and ones that involve lots of money quite quickly but present me with the Tesco website and I fall apart!

    Party on Friday.
    Do I provide:
    a) a barbeque (worried about weather and poisoning)
    b) typical children's party fare
    c) Very English things like smoked salmon, cucumber sandwiches and scones. I've been given 50metres of bunting and little Union flags for sandwiches etc but I'm a bit stumped for any more food ideas... and concerned about the price of clotted cream!

I've got Pimms and I've ordered multiple bottles of Fizz, so that's me sorted :o

No - it would be less including travelling time. If you earn not that much and have 3 kids then with tax at 20%, NI at 12% and tax credits withdrawn at 41% effective tax rate is 73% (so £8 ph equates to £2) - and it is only that low because I earn too much and have too much savings to qualify for housing benefit, council tax benefit and free school meals and prescriptions which could push the rate in to the 90s percent.

And yet those on 150k complain that a marginal rate of 52% is a disincentive...

I'd just see what looks suitable on the DtD spreadsheet - seem to remember seeing smoked salmon? Personally I wouldn't risk a bbq on the weather.

Didn't realise you were talking the net figure.

So are you going to take them up on their kind offer?
