I have got 3 toms sprouting - finally!
Friday I spent planting onion seeds, beetroot and carrots. Wasn't going to do onions, but heard they compliment carrots, as well as keeping carrotfly away, so why not?
Beans and Peas are in pots in the greenhouse. So all my seeds are now done (except for second tomato batch, & lettuce throughout the summer).
Big job this weekend was tree pruning. Big job through the week will be cutting up the trees for the refuse collection!
This census stuff - I've been PM'ing Nikkster to compare notes. Weather is good, exercise is good, people have been fine. Organisationally, not so good...
Won our bowls match this weekend:j Monday nights season has started too :j
Regarding the cars stuff, I always develop great plans, yet end up finding summat cheap! Last time I changed cars (approx 4-5 years ago) I had all sorts of plans for a hard top convertable, or the honda s2000 and stuff, all quite expensive, & all brand new and so on. Then dad fell ill, & because of illness & needing money & stuff he sold me his car - an almost new(ish) astra with under 20k on the clock, for £1500.It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
How many miles do you do Lydia?
For example that petrol verso does 36 mpg officially whereas the diesel model does 45 mpg (20% more) so even with diesel costing about 5% more a litre you still make decent savings on running costs - I make it £1620/10,000 miles for petrol and £1380 for diesel.
I still think you should try something like a Honda FRV or Fiat Multipla as at it would be great bonding for all three of you to be in the front together and then you have the whole back for bikes/musical instruments etc. In ours we can have 5 seats, one seat out and put bicycles straight in with out mucking about with cycle racks etc.

Lydia, that Verso you are looiking at has 7 seats. There's bound to be a premium for that number of seats, and I thought there are around 3 of you? So, do you need a row each, or is there a mammoth rota for the school run?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

My dash has a constant mpg displayed. I can reset it when I fill up, but I have only ever bothered once, so the mpg on my dashboard at the moment is what I've got in the past two months, it's 58.9mpg. When I reset it it'd been at 57.7 for the previous 9 months.0

Is it fairly accurate? I ask because on my car it consistently reads about 20% low - there is a theory that it is based on a litres to gallons conversion using US rather than imperial gallons.
You must have a very light right foot - we get low/mid 20s in our petrol car and high 30s in our diesel.PasturesNew wrote: »My dash has a constant mpg displayed. tsk..tsk...women!:cheesy:
On the mpg issue, it might be just coincidence, but on the way to work this morning, I noticed a few 'gas guzzlers' with a for sale sign on it at the side of the road. A BMW X5, a Freelander and some Audi 3 litre thingy. A sign of the times?0 -

You must have a very light right foot - we get low/mid 20s in our petrol car and high 30s in our diesel.- but it takes about 60 litres, so could be anywhere between 1-4 months before I get to that stage (if I even remember).
