One thing I don't like about my car is having to remove the front bumper, which requires removing about 14 torx bolts, just to get access to change a headlight bulb.

    Renault Megane?

It's brilliant having you on this board as you can see things as an adult with Aspergers and you can put into words what my two cannot as yet.

A question mostly for Sue and Pastures, but also for anyone else who may have read it.... Have you read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time? I have met several people who are Aspie or have Aspie children who say that it's quite an accurate portrayal, even though it is a novel.

Hi viva. Yes but, more importantly, having to give a fair bit of support to parents, on both sides, who are failing in health. Am finding things worrying and draining at the moment.

I'm having to research, prompt and push various health services in a way I shouldn't have to be doing. It's hard work, upsetting and making me very angry. Heaven help the neglected who don't have anyone to act on their behalf.

I'm feeling like that on a daily basis at the moment. Every day we've got homeless people coming in and falling asleep at the desks. They just can't keep warm enough out of doors. What happened last year, when my favourite homeless man died, is still etched large on my memory.

God help humanity if we have as rough a year next year too when many of the libraries in this country (not mine thank goodness) will be shut.

Not just the homeless though it does worry me. I'm seeing a lot of people who don't fit exactly into boxes and they are already falling between the different services and flailing around not getting support. Those with poor english, low IQ, physical and mental health problems etc....

I am not a reader ... and my library wouldn't have it I bet. In a way I would like to shove the whole thing under the carpet, I am still in a state of shock and denial about my situation I think... I've been in 'retreat and hide mode' for over 3 years, so need to pull myself out of it soon.

    :)

I just checked, it costs £3.70 to get a book sent in. My local library had it, but it wasn't returned and has been overdue since 22 August.

Update: I just read the Wikipedia review/precis and it sounds stupid/childish, so I wouldn't want to read it.

Ye gods they stiff you for fees in Cornwall don't they? No wonder people don't use their libraries there. There's no excuse for needing to charge an out of county loan fee for one of the most popular books of the past 10 years.

However if you don't like it fair enough, I'll try harder next time ;).

I've not read it either, weirdly ever since their diagnosis, I have avoided all television programmes and books about experiences of autism....don't know why apart from when I did try to watch something shortly after middle son was diagnosed, it made me angry and depressed at the same time...it would bring it home to me just what kind of future the boys had.

Maybe now, quite a few years after the event with my emotions not being quite so raw, I would be more open to the books (still can't watch a programme, I end up in floods), especially bearing in mind how reading PN's experiences has been helpful.

Anyway, onto my quandry from yesterday......youngest will finish today as he is the one most impacted on when the routine and structure goes out the window but middle son will go in for the first lesson tomorrow as it is music and music is his favourite subject, I will then pick him up at 10.10.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Some thing I'm hoping to do in the next few days is join my new local library. I'm desperatefor books atm. Last night the only thing on the top of a box that I haven't read recently was Moominland Midwinter :)

Things suddenly moving apace here. The new architect is just amazing, he's kind and funny, and practical and sensible without being too boring. we feel so much happier with him involved and already he has some drawings for us to look at over Christmas. The inside is going to be the interesting bit and not sure whether anything for this will be on paper yet, but the outside is just going to be exactly as it was built to look at the front, and only slightly altered at the back, so probably quick enough for him to have done.

Inside....welll,we still haven't had any bright ideas about the four foot high secret room......weird hidden panic room for people who hope not to panic? Relaxation chamber....not sure how relaxing sitting and crawlig around is, or lying with the ceiling so close! Cat room.....we could have a serious cat play ground in there.....or just storage. Seems a bit of a shame.
