Have a lot of people not bothered to do it?
How many on average in 10? Say 1 in 10?
I remember doing mine online and it was a PITA but not a big deal to polish off in 15 mins.
Have you had a stand-off yet with a ''I am not doing it on principle'' person yet?
Think it varies quite a lot really. I'm working in two areas. The first one seemed pretty easy, not too many people to visit. The second area, which I was handed today looks like I'll be knocking on most doors :eek:0 -
When I get a garden, I plan for it to be maintenance free. It'll be a "beach garden" and everything will be in pots.... not that there'll be much of anything.
It'll have some water feature/waterfall I hope and it'll be a suntrap ... and it'l have a couple of palms, maybe a banana plant (or is it pineapple)... and a nice flat patio bit and the rest done in a purple slate. I'd like to have sand down, but that just encourages cat poo.
What'd be cool would be to have a fake beach hut front/door over the back door.... possibly in perspex so you're not faced with a wall of wood once you open the back door. In fact, that's a genius idea. I should flog those
Beach hut front painted onto perspex, hung on hinges on your wall covering the back door0 -

I also think it is quite funny, and contradictory that we have to keep EVERYTHING confidential, can't discuss stuff with the public etc, can't disclose addresses we have to go to etc....
...then they send us out with ID badges, big bags with CENSUS written all over them, & loads of forms to the houses which haven't returned them yet.:DIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

It is funny, articulate, engaging, enlightening, and downright fascinating. It covers a lot about the financial crisis & consequences of 2008 onwards, plus a great deal of looking at human behaviour. The chapter on revenge, why we do it, and its implications for customer service is engrossing me at the moment.
Cheers for that jelly! I went to put an order online with the library to get it in to read and spotted there's a copy at my branch sitting waiting for me to check it out. Perfect timing! Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

My bag is big, but doesn't say Census on it, and I must say if I'm walking for more than a couple of minutes I take my ID badge off temporarily. As for the fluorescent tabard, I don't think that'll be coming out of its wrapper...

Hm... I seem to have managed to miss the most interesting thread on MSE for months. Still at least someone has the right props for a bit of the bard...Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio, a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy. He hath bore me on his back a thousand times, and now how abhorr'd in my imagination it is!In terms of gardening, I've noticed the stinging, biting, and buzzing insects are back... must check the insect cream location in the bathroom to make sure it is not out of date.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Ah, no, I was using the link - the book isn't in my county, which made it look like I wasn't in the catalogue searching. So that'd be £3.70 to have it shipped in.0 -

Spent some Census-related time at a local library last week. Can't say that I've been in a public library for a while, but it was a very very small insight into the people who you must come into contact with on a daily basis. There are clearly a lot of people for whom the lib is a very important source of human contact, a place to spend some time, and provides a wealth of resources and help far beyond the books on the shelves.0 -

You are welcome. I keep reading parts & thinking "I wanna discuss this with Viva!":D
I've finished the "at work" bit, & am pausinf before starting the "at home" bit. I'm really looking forward to it. Some of the notions in it initially appear counter intuitive, yet when I think them through, make me think wow!
Really glad I picked it up in hardback for £2! (The next day I checked my books to buy list & realised I have his first book on there - definitely want that one now!)PasturesNew wrote: »I doubt it's even in my county .... although it takes me ages to find the link to do the search through the systems.... they hide it.

PN can't recall, do you like reading? I thought you only read online stuff? The book is worthwhile, & I'd definitely recommend it to you...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
