Have a lot of people not bothered to do it?
How many on average in 10? Say 1 in 10?
I remember doing mine online and it was a PITA but not a big deal to polish off in 15 mins.
Have you had a stand-off yet with a ''I am not doing it on principle'' person yet?
Most people who answer the door say they've already posted it. Next biggest group is the "not got round to it yet" brigade. Small portion say they never recieved it (they are then suprised by my kind "offer" to give them a form;)). A heck of a lot of people just don't bother answering the door. That doesn't bother me - a compliance officer will deal with them later;) I'll leave my calling card & note I was there.
I'm not experiencing much confrontation to be honest. One person had done theirs & gave it to me (saying they were a bit worried about big brother etc). A few think I'm selling something so are difficult to engage.
Rumour is that this year, they will be very strict on the failure to return the form, & they will enforce the £1000 fine for refusals. Whether that turns out to be the case, or it is just the party line atm remains to be seen. I believe in the last one there were over 3000 refusals, with only 6 prosecutions...:eek:It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

http://www.fredaldous.co.uk who seems to have expanded into things like candle making now. I used to buy hoops from him to make bags out of old levis and curtains.....must have been about 12 years ago now ...gosh 0-0.

I don't answer the door unless I am expecting somebody or something or I know the person. I am 'vulnerable' and would be easily pushed past by the type of person who jams their foot in the door and keeps thrusting leaflets at you ..... so I just ignore the door.
Now the aspie bit: As a random caller has "taken me by surprise" it comes under the heading of "can't manage changes to routine". Without knowing what they'll want there's a whole raft of stuff to deal with - like 'tuning into' them suddenly talking fast about something you weren't expecting - which isn't easy as taking in verbal instructions is an aspie failing.
So there you are, faced with the unexpected - and this person is talking to you and probably asking you questions and you aren't really able to take in what they're saying/asking, or respond in a way that'll make them shove off.... so this could be a time for a confidence trickster to pull the wool over your eyes or distract you.
But, the main thing is that "not being able to take in the verbal" stuff; puts you behind the game from the first word they say.0 -
I'm having a bit of a grim evening. Pains have been geting worse in recent months but I've still been getting lots done. On Monday I got stuck on the back stairs (a bit like a ladder) for I guess about half an hour unable to move up or done for fear of a back spasm knocking me off my feet. Tonight I'm yelling in a way that makes me glad I have no near neighbours and the cats...who don't like yelling, are biting me.
. Its nice to make a noise though. This afternoon I had to stand up when friends with a baby dropped in, obviously didn't want to scare baby...or look a tit in front of friends but when I stood up (from weeding almost lying down on the floor
) I made a terrible face. It goes in a definite rhythm though. This week is likely to be worst, next week will be better.
eta: actually feel really bad about grumbling about it. I'm going to go to bed. It will probably be a lot better tomorrow.0 -

I guess you've tried those heated wheat bags and those tens(?) machines.
I used to have sciatica years ago, for 10 years.... for some reason it suddenly stopped and not had the slightest relapse in over 20 years. It was bl00dy awful at the time. Once it took me 30 minutes to get down 2 flights of work stairs to my moped - managed to get the moped started and rode home.... it then took me another 30 minutes to walk the 20 yards to my front door. Excruciating pain it was.... and stopped by magic.0 -

You're an excellent teacher on the impact of being an "aspie" PN. I can assure you that I bear many of your words in mind when "on my rounds" (I do also work with young people who are "aspies", so I hope I am alert and sensitive to them). I suspect that most with aspergers do not answer the door when we knock. We post a reminder card through the door. This gives them the option to do it online, call the helpline, or prompts them to do the form themselves.
Allegedly, when HO recieve the forms, your address is taken off the follow up list.lostinrates wrote: »I'm having a bit of a grim evening. Fingers crossed for you LIR. I had a rough end to last week. Don't know what it was, but felt awful. Didn't eat for days.
With gardening, it is always a good idea to do some stretching first. We dive out into the garden early in spring, full of joys, with our vision of a kept, weed free garden & bold plans. Then we tend to over do it a bit & give ourselves injuries. Very common according to my nursie friends.Do painkillers or 'medicinal herbal' cigarettes help?
Best MSE tip EVER!:DIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
