Hm... I seem to have managed to miss the most interesting thread on MSE for months. Still at least someone has the right props for a bit of the bard...Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio, a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy. He hath bore me on his back a thousand times, and now how abhorr'd in my imagination it is!In terms of gardening, I've noticed the stinging, biting, and buzzing insects are back... must check the insect cream location in the bathroom to make sure it is not out of date.
Oh but what a thread it was tomterm.
I wonder if mse towers will revive it now it is publicly known to be a joke...:DIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

On Monday I got stuck on the back stairs (a bit like a ladder) for I guess about half an hour unable to move up or done for fear of a back spasm knocking me off my feet. Tonight I'm yelling in a way that makes me glad I have no near neighbours and the cats...who don't like yelling, are biting me.
. Its nice to make a noise though. This afternoon I had to stand up when friends with a baby dropped in, obviously didn't want to scare baby...or look a tit in front of friends but when I stood up (from weeding almost lying down on the floor
) I made a terrible face. It goes in a definite rhythm though. This week is likely to be worst, next week will be better.
eta: actually feel really bad about grumbling about it. I'm going to go to bed. It will probably be a lot better tomorrow.
....sounds awful for you...I can't imagine how it must feel to be stuck on some stairs unable to move and nobody to call out to.:(
What are the pains from?
Hope you are right and it gets better next week.PasturesNew wrote: »I'd found the fredaldous site this weekend, I was surprised I hadn't found it before. My list of links is already extensive (OCD style), but it's a list that'll have no end.....
A couple of places I want to apply for a trade account are "old school" in that you have to provide them with your VAT number, or a couple of trade references... so I'll have to wait until I'm up and running before applying for those.
There's so much to look into isn't there.... not even got onto branding/packaging and labelling yet
You can use a local printer for that if you want...or do it yourself but you'll need a decent printer, buy the stickers and so on.
For basic labels by the bundle (on string etc) try www.morplan.com
All different sizes, they do the boxes as well that you could tart up yourself with a pic or whatever. We used to use them for jewellery we sold in the shop. I think you buy a dozen at a time.
You don't need a trade account to buy from them...just a min order I think.Think it varies quite a lot really. I'm working in two areas. The first one seemed pretty easy, not too many people to visit. The second area, which I was handed today looks like I'll be knocking on most doors
Were they different types of areas?
What was the compliant one like? 30's semis, large detached, gated, high rise estate? Just being nosy really......but I am sure it wouldn't breach your confidentiality clause too much.0 -

Yeah, as you'd expect the more compliant one is I think a bit nicer (not that nice though - its not the greatest of areas!). Not been to the other one yet, but the bits I know are less nice. Hoping there aren't too many flats as I'm fast developing a hatred of intercoms!0 -
Historic experience suggests that the groups where response rates may be lower are 20-30s, shared accommodation, elderly women and ethnic minorities in urban areas.I think....0

Spot on. Haven't come across so many elderly people on my travels yet, but everything else fits with my experience.0 -

Intercoms...I guess you have to keep buzzing them until one person lets you in...but once you're in you're in ...hah..then you have navigate your way around the whole block to knock up all the 'no fill ins '?0 -

I do feel quite bad about doing that though - I wouldn't like that!
But the alternative is to go back outside and try the intercom again...
Then there are the places where behind the 'front door' everyone has their own door (like Uni halls of residence) so no-one would hear you even if you go past the outside door... and everyone has their own individual intercom in their own room0 -
What's with the new speight of names that have been launched? I've just seen replumbed and replastered, waiting now for redecorated. Are they a tribute to rewired from an odd-job sockie? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

If you've got any uni halls on your patch, you wont get very far as they've broken up already.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
