I'm also going stir crazy. My idea of absolute luxury would be to sit on a sofa and watch telly uninterrupted for a whole programme. To have a bath and sit in my dressing gown on a sofa watching telly.... bliss. I should book into a cheap hotel for a few days maybe. I really miss Homes under the Hammer.

I'm suffering TV withdrawal symptoms. MIL is installed in the only room in the house with a TV. Yesterday, I settled down and watched a 45 minute programme. She wandered in, sniffed pointedly, and wandered out again. So, that's that for another week.

We have a walk-in shower in the top floor bathroom, and it looks fine, but it's a bit of a mistake.

Somehow you have the balance between bathrooms and T V s wrong. I'm guessing "top floor bathroom" means there are at least two and possibly three bathrooms, yet there is only one TV in the house.

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

In terms of layout, the RH wall will have a window on which we can choose the position and sill height. The door can be anywhere in either the LH or top wall. The width must be less than about 8 foot 4 (but 8 foot would be best, the length from top to bottom can be varied but will take space from either or both of the master and a double bedroom.

The total distance for what will be 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms is about 38 feet x 12 feet (widening to 14 feet for the final 13 feet at the back), there will need to be 3x6 inch walls to separate the rooms.

I'm going to pee on your parade now :o. The diagram isn't to scale so it won't look like that. You are going to struggle to fit everything in there. Just a normal, fitted bath is going to be a challenge with a separate shower, but free-standing baths take up a lot of space and will project forward quite a way and you need space for the standpipe behind. I don't think you stand a chance of getting it in to that size, even with the flexibility of it being a planned, newbuild space.

You need a big bathroom for a modern freestanding bath. 2400 across, even with a normal bath you need 75cm, then at least 80cm for a doorway. The door will need to open outwards for it not to feel claustrophobic. That only leaves you 85cm for sink and loo. You'd definitely need a corner toilet for it to work. It's tight as it is.

What will the purpose of that other bedroom be if one is a master bedroom? How big do you want it to be - ie. what needs to fit in it?

    Send me the plan :D

It has been mentioned in the past already that we are having a 'bl**dy big extension' so I suspect the planners might not be too please if we decided it wasn't big enough.

My bad:o. How about.... bath under window, shower where bath is and basin and toilet on long wall opposite door. Does it all fit then?

Omg. I just got directed to the thread that some of you seem to have already found that I suspect will have to be removed at some point. It's dreadfully sad. I really hope it isn't what it looks like but it is isn't it?

    How's this for speculation? :-

Surely, if you were burying someone under your patio, you'd make sure that the patio covered the grave, rather than only a bit of it? Ergo, the grave was there for some time before anybody built the patio.

Shallow grave, so there'd be a nasty smell. Ergo, the grave has been there from before the house was built.

It may not be historic, but it may have been there 100 years.

My connection is so slow it's taken me 7 minutes since a fresh reboot and connecting to the Internet to come here.... and all I have to do to arrive directly here is type one character into my address bar, so I wasn't slow.... it's literally taken 7 minutes to load. Speed says slower than dialup :( Looks like the three service is pants again .. and I can't face their Indian call centre for an hour to get them to agree it's them and not me.

Clicked the link above, still waiting for it to load. :)
