1] The factories would drive you doubly mad PN......and you would have to go talk to them and visit them..maybe raise your voice a bit sometimes....they aren't so keen on e-mails and the written word.:D
2] Is the tumbling machine the one that shines/polishes stones? Sounds exciting that one.
3] Did you find a winter let?
Are you sure about a caravan? They aren't very secure are they?
4] ...what I would suggest is small, off beaten track commercial property and coomercial is way cheaper than resi now...if I can find £3 per sq ft per annum overlooking the Thames, there must be a small unit with elec and steel bars at the windows (or very secure) locally to you......nicer than a lock-up/garage (as you need good light) available on a monthly in/out deal.
Why not ask about?
Then you can escape there during your working hours and it'll be your own little haven until you decide what to do.
You're right, I couldn't do the shouting at people thing at all.
2] Yes. They tumble stones, but they also shine silver stuff you've made. You make something, then tumble it to get it super bright.
3] No, yes, yes. This is a residential place, right alongside a holiday one. Family owned business. Not chavland, so should be OK. Not even seen it though. I should contact her again tomorrow I guess. I find it very hard to contact people when the ball was in their court and they didn't return it.
4] I think there are places, quite cheap. It's been on my mind to look into that as I think I can get somewhere on a "piece" basis, so per hour or per day... however, at my stage, I do really need to have it all close by, so I can stop/start and leave it/walk away when I need a break.... yet instantly continue again once I have a genius idea or am back in "the zone" for it.0 -

There have got to be places locally to you....backs of shops, yard areas, businesses that have gone during the downturn. Snag is a lot won't be advertised online, maybe in back of local paper, word of mouth etc.
Worth a hunt about though. I would have thought you could rent a large room/unit in a commercial property which would be all yours to do with as you please really cheaply down your way. The business rates wouldn't be massive either, maybe inclued in the rent too.
re; shouting, I never shout at anyone but speak firmly yet reasonably when there is a problem. I do the shouting in private after/before the call.:o0 -
I was thinking more of something that didn't require a signature. I'm sure I can find somebody that's got a studio, that'd be prepared to let a n00b practise in the corner. I'll look into it and see.
Quite often though, prices here are higher than in London for a lot of things. There there's competition; here there isn't.
When you said £3/sq foot - is that per week? per month? or per year?0 -
That'll be per year.
Can you erect a shed somewhere - your parents' garden? £300 or so and it's yours. Then run an electricity cable from the house. It'll be great in the summer. Literally, not so hot in the winter. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
How come so accident prone? Is it the back problems?
I read your posts on the boys and they all seem to be ticking over OK esp now the one who was ill is OK.
Hospitals are so stressy.......we have our own NHS tale to tell recently as son had to have an adult circumcision...what a nightmare amd I won't bore you all with the details but 3 times he was delivered to hosp @ 7.30am and the op was cancelled later in the day.
Aftercare was zero so we had to google what to do in terms of bandaging etc and then he split the stitches (unavoidable at his age really....as it's an involuntary moveable body part) and then got an infection...however all healed up now but he's still on a no nookie ban for another 2 weeks.
I've always been accident prone, for as far back as I can remember...although it is usually a case of rushing about and not really taking care or paying attention.
My two recent falls before this one, have been due to a problem with my ankles as they are extremely hypermobile and have the tendancy to swing right round with resulting agony or to just not support me and flop over to the side (think what happens when you sprain an ankle and mine do it all the time) with the result being me going headlong down the blooming stairs! Think wobbly jelly and that is my ankles, knees, elbows, shoulders and back, the supporting ligaments and tendons are too stretchy.
But find me a hole in a car park or something and you can bet I will fall down the blooming thing :rotfl:
Anyway, back to my TMA writing.......school holidays and assignment writing do not go well together. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Just had a quick look on one big/national site. Cheapest thing in the whole list was a shed in the middle of nowhere, £250/month. It'd be cheaper to rent a house with a shed and pay £750/month rent instead of £600 or so for a 1-bed flat that's tiny. You have to factor in the extra travelling costs etc. It'd be cheaper to just rent a house and have it all there. So ... back to looking for a caravan to rent I guess
No business rates on a hobby shed. And I'd like it to be separate/a shed as my fun involves acid and flames and temperatures of about 1650 degrees.... so it needs to have space where stuff's safe and there's room to move about.
No. No room. If I could have I'd have done something by now.0 -
Blimey, 4.22am and I am still doing the blooming assignment...going to feel like death warmed up in the morning. We made it! Pastures, £3 per sq ft is very cheap but I have seen that for old and low grade industrial space before now.
In commercial terms, retail is the most expensive, and can run to several £000s per sq ft, especially in prime areas. This is followed by offices. Here the most expensive space is in London and again will be over £100 per sq ft in London for the best areas, but in most towns the best space will be around the £20s to £30s. Some places you can get cheap offices for £6-10 per sq ft, but no new ones will be developed as the value isn't in it for the developer. Industrial space tends to be cheaper than offices (unless very high tech). The difficulty will be getting something for £3 per sq ft that is only 100 sq ft and not 20,000 sq ft or available for subletting. That's where the small companies will have trouble. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
