So, I have about a dozen what I think are Camp Coffee bottles and a few jars with ''heinz 57 varieties'' written in red on the lid. I thought Heinz 57 was a mongrel....what came in jars? Soup??
Also, their jars of sandwich filler.0 -
Big fat gypsy wedding last night.
Most surreal moment : Straightening the dolls hair on the wedding cake.
Most worrying moment: the boys driving over the pavement to avoid the traffic.
Which got me thinking, most of the boys couldn't read, so they wouldn't have been able to pass their driving theory test. So they are all driving with no driving licence, so they wouldn't be able to get car insurance. No car insurance = no road tax.....
Sweetest moment: the daughter being upset at her mum being left alone when she marries.
Upsetting moment: the 11 year old having to leave school to look after the kids - where was the mum in that family? What happens to the youngest child in any family? Who do they look after?
Agree with all of that.
I also wondered what would happen to the divorcee with arthritis once her daughter wasn't there to do all the work. Wageslave, can you tell us? I know there aren't many traveller divorcees, but there must be plenty of widows facing the same kind of empty nest isolation, or even married women who've got arthritis or some other debilitating condition. How does the community care for them once they're no longer able to do their own housework?
The moment that brought tears to my eyes was the bit where the niece was telling the camera what a fantastic job her aunt had done bringing her kids up by herself. What a woman to inspire that kind of admiration from family in a community that frowns on leaving even an abusive marriage. (And what lovely niece, too.)Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

No offense to anyone, but I've just been out onto the main debate forum for the first time in a while. It's pretty dreadful out there at the moment. It's actually worse than guidofawkes. Occasionally you get a old regular who actually has a few brain cells, but most of the discussions seem to be with the dribble brigade.
Fairly dire.
On related news, I have been trying a random web site called webanswers.com. it is a complete rip off. Don't bother, is all I can say.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

When I see that, all I can think is, there won't be that many packages being sent off in half of America. Can't do my Amazon any good. Booger.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Today's report from OH is he's confined to the hotel, internet down, power still on. the pool is outdoor and the temp is -20C!
Airline have offered to transfer him to friday eve flight home instead of thursday eve, which may prove useful if he can't finish work on thurs. (i guess airline are desperate for seats on the first planes out tomorrow eve.)I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
