I've just put a call in to the surgery to try to speak to youngest's asthma nurse....blooming woman is not in today! So, the receptionist has taken a note and will get the duty doctor to call back...the duty doctor is the family doctor and the one I don't like and who confused me on Wednesday.

To say I am not happy would be an understatement.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

A photo arrives on my phone.

    Of an ear

    with an earring...

a minute or two later I realise that the ear belongs to eldest son,

    as does the earring.

    :( not impressed :(

 That's one way of telling you! Presumably he thought he'd get the initial reaction over and done with whilst he wasn't there for you to lose it with him. What sort of earring is it? I do think men look odd with earrings. I don't even wear them myself, I think I look odd as well :o

I'll never not miss her. The pet cats we have now were choses in her honour, and the one the same colour as her is strangely, very like her in personality and also ''chooses me''. I sometimes dream I've given birth to the cats. :o:eek:
The love of a cat is a very special thing. We're lucky to have experienced it.

Thank you. Yes, she 'chose me' too. We got her when I passed my GCSEs and I regained her again a couple of years after moving out when my mum died far too early. The kids would rarely see her in the day - she didn't really get over DS welcoming her enthusiastically aged 2 with a massive remote control police helicopter. But she'd go to DD when she went to bed and then when H came up, she'd stand at the top of the stairs and miaow until I came too. Whilst alone in the house, if wasn't giving her attention whilst on the laptop, she'd put the top of her head against my typing hands and stroke herself!

I let our big dog onto the bed this morning, a first for him, he's nearly as big as H! I needed the company. I'm afraid I sobbed all night, feel a little better today. We have a viewing tomorrow so I've just ironed the bed clothes and observed the many, many pulled threads she's created.

Wondering today if I can live with, or indeed without another cat.

elona, thank you. I think you are right, I think her heart just gave up, it was time. She was perfectly happy the night before and had medication for her issues that seemed to be working. The the vision that DD gave me as well was that she'd gone to seek her fortune.

    She sounds very, very special.

I was years without a cat, but definitely prefer life with cats in it. You'll know when you are ready. There is no right or wrong.

I bet your dog was chuffed. I miss having dog-dog upstairs...but it does make life easier. Big-Dog has a shorter life expectancy so if dog-dog found herself on her own in the future she could come up again I guess.

Its a small stud, but thats not the point.

His brother came home from school, obviously briefed and asked me which is worse: to be arrested, to get a tattoo or an ear piercing? Trying to smooth the way before the photo arrived, but his timing was out.

I'd have given up that first time, turned up at home sobbing and vowed never to go back! It's a real achievement not to give up and I'm really pleased you're enjoying it and that the plan is going well so far.
Now I know why I become distressed etc, I keep forcing myself to keep trying and trying and trying .... knowing while I am deeply upset that it's just "me" and everybody else manages to do stuff, so I should be able to as well. So, 'knowing' is helping me to not 'bother' about being distressed, but to carry on regardless; this means I no longer run, like I used to :)

In the old days I'd have run away and never gone back, ever. I am still scarred inside from many, many, many failed adventures in the past - and am now, instead, scarring myself by successes :)

I have so many things buzzing in my head I want to crack on with, all excited. But, I desperately need my own space. In fact, I just fired up the Internet to look for somewhere to move out to, soonest. I need to have my 'workshop' around me now, and start to make these things I know I can achieve.

There's so much stuff "any fool can make" - and I want to start with that :)

Plus, if you really feel you're struggling, the college would have a support team who will bend over backwards to help you stay on your course and complete it. Ours where I work do a sterling job! Just ask...:)
The trouble is always that first time, the first bit - before anybody knows you might have issues. And I'd have not thought they'd have done anything differently for me, it's only a short-time evening course.

I'd proper calmed down by the end though :)

    Lecturer's a good sort too.

I did all sorts of new and exciting things, like filing and sawing and using blowtorches and some strange concoction that was being warmed in a crockpot. All exciting and potentially dangerous stuff - and I've counted my fingers and they're still all there :)

I've run away from stuff before now. The kids use a phrase, "outside your comfort zone". I've also told friends that I feel really good because I managed to join something or do some activity and they've reacted like "what's the big deal" squashing any feeling of accomplishment I had.

So don't think that other people sail through life.
