I'm so sorry to hear about your cat, Doozer. Animals who love you are very special, and they leave a huge hole.
Pastures, I think you're amazing. The people who feel no fear have no need to be brave. The ones who are terrified but do it anyway - those are the really courageous ones. I hope the course goes on being a great as it has seemed to start with.
I completed on my house today. I have the keys. The children and I have been there and looked round. We went up in the loft, and played hide & seek in the cupboards, etc. I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!
The sellers have left it beautifully clean, and the cupboards in the garage have spares of all the tiles, and left-over paint pots, complete with neat labels to say which is from which room. The neighbours gave us a welcome card. My workplace had done me a new home card, too, and most of phys/chem had signed it.
I have removals companies coming to quote on Mon, Tues & Wed next week, so need to do lots of sorting out over the weekend. Also, we are meeting the builder at the house at 1.30 tomorrow (Sat) to discuss exactly what I want him to do. Busy, busy, busy.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

That's the exciting news we've all been waiting for. So pleased to hear that Lydia. Hope you're all very happy there. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I've been watching the news coverage of the political change in Egypt on Al Jazeera this evening. There's a human shield of protesters round the museum of antiquities in Cairo stopping looting. I don't know why, but I find what's going on in North Africa strangely uplifting - that both people who deserve their freedom may get it and in doing so they are taking care of their precious history. As with Tunisia, there has been a raft of Egypt related wikileaks in the days leading up to this. So is this the start of a new order in North Africa? I find it fascinating. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? That's a very uplifting attitude Viva, Tunisia was good but the consequences of Egypt going terrify me.
The cause of it all is the food price hikes so it is all a bit Asheron / Amluescent for me to feel comfortable.vivatifosi wrote: »I've been watching the news coverage of the political change in Egypt on Al Jazeera this evening. Thanks Pastures, I'm watching Al Jazeera on Sky 514. Meanwhile FCO has advised against all non-essential travel, which is a bit slow compared to Tunisia.
20 years ago I was welded to the TV watching the momentous change in Eastern Europe and now it looks like a similar will happen in North Africa, only this time I have the internet and 24 hour news networks to help indulge my interests (I love current affairs and am a total news junkie).
Apparently the speaker of Parliament has said that Egypt is "in Mubarak's safe hands" which may, if the people get their way, over time be a bit like Comical Ali saying that there were no US tanks in Baghdad. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
