What sort of food do you (and guests) like to eat?
Are the children being fed the same dishes?
I just like eating!
It's quite informal so it doesn't really matter if we all eat the same or not. Seem to have cooked a lot for the same people recently so I was struggling with ideas. I'm not going to risk salmon, H thinks I tried to poison him with it once on his birthday.
HM Pizza could be a good idea actually, LIR. I've not made it before but we're blessed with two ovens at the moment so I could potentially keep up with demand and I have a BM and a Kenwood. I could have some more grown up topping options for the big people - there's loads of things like sun dried tomatoes, roasted peppers, jalepenos, olives and anchovies in the cupboards that I pick up cheaply in Home Bargains and never seem to get round to doing anything with.
Buy cheese, some pepperoni for the kids and we're away!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Got in the car this evening, and just as we were about to set off, a black kid wandered round the corner wearing a hoody. At exactly the same moment, my wife activated the central locking. As it happens, she always does this when she sets off, but all the poor kid knows is that honky goes ker-klunk as soon as we see him. I know how I'd feel if I were the one wearing the hoody. Or am I being too sensitive? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Yeah, you're being too sensitive. Lots of people lock their doors these days.... mind you, I hate pressing that button when I am waiting at lights and see some scallies on the footpath... it's so ferkin noisy!0 -
Thank you MsK I did see it and plan to update that thread but this evening I am trying not to dwell on that so have watched Indy Jones and now a quick browse and then sleep soon.
Just checked online usage - 70gb so far this month - on 1 PC- don't have a monitor on the other 3 nor the android phone...I replied to the thread in the other place. Not very helpful I feelI think....0 -

I really enjoyed it. I did hope fc would stop by as tonight's episode was about as up her street as it's possible to be.
I was amazed that the young woman with the dark hair and the big smile was the shop assistant with all those levels of people above her. She was the stand-out worker and I hope she goes far. But I hope they turn the chain around (they should give her the responsibility to go out and talk to the workers in the other stores). I can't bear shopping in any of those places as I don't have the patience. Especially Primark. Every now and again I see someone in something I like from H&M or Primark but couldn't go there if you paid me. Eurghhhh....
Hi all..I am on a 5 min quicky log inand I have taped it to watch tomo pm.....is it worth watching?
My life has been a real life changing rooms programme the past few days as we had some slebs coming into studio today and it pulled the tarting up process forward. Poor Oh has been up since 5.30am every day for days now and me not long after and late finishes...but it all paid off this afternoon.
I'll write about it tomo pm.....just wanted t look in and say hope everyone is well.0 -

International growth helped Asos offset snow-related disruptions in the UK, as the internet retailer reported a 150 per cent increase in overseas sales in its third quarter.
“We are not a UK business anymore,” said Nick Robertson, chief executive. “International [sales] is our runaway success.”
UK sales, which still account for more than half of the group’s turnover, expanded 23 per cent. Analysts described that as disappointing and attributed it in part to trouble with deliveries during December’s snowfall.
“Our opportunity is to internationalise Asos as quickly as we can and offset the more challenging UK environment,” Mr Robertson said.
He said the company would launch up to five new country specific websites in the coming year, adding to its existing sites in the US, France and Germany.
Total retail sales jumped 59 per cent to £100m in the three months to December 31. International sales now account for 44 per cent of the total, up from 37 per cent in the first half of the year.
But although sales beat expectations, the money Asos is now spending on its free global delivery promotion means that pre-tax profit forecasts have remained unchanged at £27.3m.
The group says that the promotion will wipe 100 basis points off gross margins this year. Internationally, Mr Robertson said, the cost of shipping is partially mitigated as Asos’ prices include UK VAT and the group itself can keep that extra on overseas orders.
But the free shipping, intended as a “land-grab strategy” to improve its sales and brand awareness, may become a permanent cost of doing business, analysts say.
“You keep on having to recruit customers,” said Katherine Wynne, a retail analyst with Investec.
The shares jumped 8.6 per cent, or 133p, to £16.83 on the news.
In the past 12 months, Asos’ shares have risen by more than 270 per cent.0 -

LydiaJ, thank you, you must be so excited, it's a great size house for a family and I'm very happy for you that you've now got the house that you've always deservedWhat is your builder doing to it, did you tell us already and I missed it in my confusion of not seeing the pics? I will look back. I remember the conversation about the entrance and can see why the surveyor thought the entrance thing might detract from the value, but if it suits you as it is, then it's perfect
. I can see the benefit of knocking into the kitchen and having a door that you can shut a door into the main conservatory to hide any random mess from callers, whilst using it as you wanted yourself maybe?
Thanks Doozer
The builder isn't doing anything structural. Some of the walls are filled cavity, but some are single skin brick, so he's adding extra insulation on the inside - I am one of those people who always feel cold, and like to have my house warm! He's also got an electrician friend who'll be putting in a new fuse box, and a heating friend who'll be putting in a new boiler, and also adding radiators in the family room (currently only has electric heating) and utility room (currently unheated) because I want to be able to hang washing on racks in there to dry when it's not convenient to hang stuff outside. I'm wondering about putting in one of those racks that come down from the ceiling on pulleys, perhaps, and I think I'll get someone (the heating bloke? the builder?) to put a shower over the bath in the ensuite too.
He's done work for several of my friends, who've all been impressed with both the quality of his work and his prices. I've been in a kitchen and a garden room that he's done, and they were lovely. So I've asked him not only to do the job, but to be the project manager so the heating, electrical and insulation bits get done in the right order to dovetail with each other. I wouldn't have a clue how to do the project management myself, and in any case I have no spare time at all.
The idea of knocking through from the thin bit of conservatory to the space between the conservatory and the kitchen is just a dream for the future, maybe.
Pastures and silvercar - I've just discovered the Clampetts thread on the housing board - have broken off about half way through to check on here before going back to it. What a gem! If they get anything as priceless as that going again, do tip us nice people a nod so we can enjoy it too.
ETA Now I've got to the end of it I do agree the second half is nowhere near as good as the beginning. But I was very tired yesterday and needed some light relief, and that thread did the job.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
