Stairs would still go through the dining room though and there may not be enough room for them to do the whole rise without a corner? also garages are always useful for storage. which way is South. Am I right in thinking it is a corner plot with the garage and conservatory both 'road' sides?

eta: you know, I love the architect...he thought about everything we said. That room on the top with the funny wll in the middle i the long thin one BTW...the fuzzy wall is where we would remove.

Aha!

No ballroom, pople have to dance in the sitting room...and the billards room will be in a separate building:D.

Its a long way off...the finished thing. Not sure, for example we need two downstairs loos...as on plans! ATM its ...habitable. When the ind blows it comes through racks I can ut my hand in. The roof is sound...but just tiles, so they all have to come off, have felt, go back on. Oh yes, and we need to stop it falling down.
